Can we please move away from the MMR system?

I just don't understand it.

Twice tonight I've been paired with mostly high silvers, and 1 person who this is their first ranked season ever and haven't even completed placements yet, against teams full of mostly gold players or players who finished gold or higher in previous seasons. I would also add that I'm losing more LP than I'm gaining in wins versus losses, which would suggest that the average LP of my time should be higher than that of the other team, but it's not.

The MMR system works great in a purely MMR system. But using an MMR system to pair and climb a tier based system makes no sense.

Not a fan of Riot's terrible matchmaking system are we? It's great having a new level 30 in their first ranked game ever in your Silver 1 Promo games. Or a past season Plat going against a Silver ect.

I've actually had a full team of Gold 2-3's against a full team of Silvers "because MMR".

What I personally think would improve the system:

  1. No more promos. Change it so once you hit 150 LP or something, you move up a division. You can theoretically have a 60% winstreak overall, but if you just happen to be losing those 2 promo games, the system keeps you where you don't belong, which is bad for you and other players.

  2. Unranked accounts need to start lower in bronze. Intuitively, it seems extremely odd that someone can climb from B5 to S5 for instance (many games) only to play with some new players again that have the similar skill as those in low bronze. That doesn't make sense.

  3. Adding on to 2), previous season rank needs to be taken into account more during the season reset. It can take up to hundreds of games for players to get into the division they belong. It's strange that every year we have to go through this grind again. Although maybe that's their strategy? A gold player for instance should start close to where they started last year. Why should they get to "ruin" bronze and silver players' games for a couple of months each year as they climb?

How about instead we move away from lp and use an mmr system that actually works instead

Start new accounts with no ranked history at high bronze MMR and let it adjust from there. No fucking chance they should start low gold MMR and then tank their way down, it's a fucking joke and the biggest problem with mid/high silver low gold MMR matches right now.

If they are better than bronze players they will win most their placements, get placed low/mid silver and grind from there, if not they will place mid/low bronze and tank from there, like 9 out of 10 new fucking accounts do anyways.

New accounts starting at low gold MMR for placements is the most tilting shit in this fucking mess of a ranked system, period.

So you want to take away the system that matches people on their recent performance level and wins. based on how you perceive their skill to be due to previous season accomplishments. Makes sense...

Remember, everyone got put back a full division. And not everyone starts their climb in Januari. There are bound to be some golds stuck in silver still working their way up.

Also, they altered the MMR, so that you will likely end up slightly lower than you did in previous seasons. So a previously gold player could very well be silver skilled now.

I've had no problems with matchmaking in solo q this season.
