the active is actually really strong, but i'm not much of an active item ability user (it hits the enemy for 100% of the target's AD)

why would you complain about this item? the tanks tend to be more the issue and even then usually because of another item

It doesnt do damage anymore. The active only gives a shield and slows enemies now.

I think it's pretty well balanced... if you want to see overpowered, look at Frost Queen's Claim.... it's headed for nerfs 100%. If you want to see underpowered, look at the new Talisman (Spoiler; It sucks... massively increased cooldown+removal of bonus MS= gg)

Not only that, but the Equinox version saves 800 gold... but loses out on 10% CDR. You can just get the CDR component Kindlegem for 850 gold and boom, you even get an active too! Those two benefits are incredibly valuable and surely trump the bonus 50 HP Equinox gives. They say it's a cost efficient item, but it seems to cheat you.

The only reason I can think of getting Equinox is if you need that HP earlier as some kind of powerspike so that you can fight while simultaneously throwing wards out of your ass.

Equinox frees up an item slot. Works great in theory. In practice, Supports don't normally make it to full build anyways.

I usually get three items plus boots though and it's nice to have the extra room so that i can take a potion and don't have to buy the third item in one.

It is. If the game ends with 20 kills combined for both teams, The support still doesn't get enough to reach full build without any farm.

... Sona Yup. Totally the case. It's not like I can snipe a kill. Or four... Or a Penta (I will steal a full penta with Sona one day.)

And twenty kills is kind of low for the average game. Not to mention the gold netted by the new bounty system. But yeah, if you're not collecting kills as the support then you might be a bit gold hungry.

Good point, I've been considering doing this too in my past few Taric games. He seems like a great candidate for this kind of thing, as you say. However I think I'll stick to the 3-item 45% CDR path while also doubling down on the survival of my less-outrageously tanky allies via the active. Feels like it suits me better.

Oasis and Watchers now give 10% Cooldown reduction on the PBE, so it's coming. It is still the pre-season, so there are more changes to all things coming to make them fit in better.
