New Champions in Ranked Play

So, as everyone knows, new champions are pretty buggy. When Azir came out, he had so many bugs that he was almost unplayable. Vel'Koz had some issues after his initial release. These bugs can be a very big problem, especially in ranked play. Of course, new champions have to be tested and played to find potential bugs, even after the PBE release.

Me personally, I hate to see new champions (especially buggy ones) picked when I start a ranked game for multiple reasons. For one, most people don't really know how to play new champions. That results (A lot of the time) in feeders and flamers thinking that because they're playing the newest champion, they're better than everyone else. Secondly, new champions can be extremely buggy, enough so that it changes the outcome of the game.

In my opinion, new champions should be disabled strictly in ranked play for at least a few weeks after their release, to give Riot the chance to straighten out any problems that champion might have, as well as give the people who want to play that champion in ranked time to actually learn the champ.

that's probably a good idea, but i'd say 1-2 weeks should be long enough

I dunno. I agree and disagree. I agree because not everyone is me.

I bought Rek'sai the day she came out. I played two custom games to learn her kit and how it worked, 2 co-op vs. AI games to at least have some synergy with players, and then did some grinding in team builder. For four days.

Being highly successful with her, I took her to Ranked after 4 days, and proceeded to do VERY well with her. My other two games I have had with her haven't been as successful, due to misplays both by me and my team.

I'm just saying. Maybe a number of games with the champ should be required to play it in ranked as opposed to time limit? I realize this is more difficult to code and more server taxing, but one week won't stop people from first picking them into Ranked, and I've had people play a champ for the first time ever in Ranked, that were out at release.
