Is Rakkan worth playing when he isn't with Xhaya?

Besides the fact that they're adorable together, I find that he isn't as useful or powerful in the laning phase as he is with his significant other there with him. This is because the range of his dash is reduced when he isn't dashing to Xhaya, and this hurts him a hell of a lot when he is as squishy as an adc, but ALSO has to be a disruptor that gets in the middle of a fight and gets out asap. It may just because I'm new with him, but every time I engage, and I don't have a Xhaya on my team, I'm just short of escaping with my E, but the range is too short, the charm wears off, I get cc'd and I die. I love playing Rakkan, I think he's fun, he's funny, and he can be pretty damn game changing with a good ult or W, but honestly without Xhaya in lane with him, I don't see why I should pick him over someone like thresh or Janna, who has more cc, a more reliable shield, and better engaging and disengaging tools in their arsenals. Any input would be great, thanks guys and good luck on the Rift! [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

It's like Thresh lantern all over again.

More accurately, the frustration of playing Jax, (old) Kat, Lee, or Braum and your teammates just bieng OBLIVIOUS to the fact that you can jump to them for safety or engage. It's the pain of playing support, I've noticed. I'm constantly looking out for other people, but other people rarely look out for me.

Rakan isn't currently worth playing even when he is with Xayah.

He is fine, but as you said your team really has to know when to followup. It is important for you to get out safely. Also you want someone there for the damage otherwise you just did nothing.

Coin sucks right now.

He is a lot less forgiving of teammates not knowing how to play with him when you aren't with Xayah because it is very easy (and oh so frequent) for them to not follow up when you go in for a knockup and instead take a step or two back leaving you without a way to get out in the middle of two angry opponents. That said, he can have some really nice matchups, particularly if you are on voice coms with your ADC, in lane while offering good picks and teamfight later on. I'm not sure how often I would pick him over someone like Nami who offers all the same stuff but safer unless I'm last picking and know they can't counter pick me. I particularly like playing him with a Caitlyn so she can drop a trap under them when I knock up giving us an amazing trade.
