Is it just me or are items boring (for every class)?

As a relatively new player to LoL I feel like a lot of items for all classes are basically required to play that class, but have little or no interesting effects, and don't have much versatility in allowing you to build different paths. For example, if you're a mage you're almost always required to build both of these itemsitem 3165item 3089 no matter who you are. If you're an enchanter you always need this item 3504, and will probably build as many non-awful items that give heal/shield power as possible. If you're an ADC you take your pick item 3085 item 3031item 3072item 3033. The list goes on.

I'd really like it if riot would consider reworking items as a whole after the rune update. I know there's always going to be a "best item build" for all the characters. But with that being said, I feel like you should at least have the option to have alternate builds that are significantly different from each other. Right now I feel like there aren't that many heroes that have many optional item builds, and the ones that do tend to be versatile enough to be played in multiple lanes even without items.

I'd like more items like item 3174. Supports tend to have very defensive items, and while this doesn't let you straight up gank people, it rewards you for being aggressive, and doesn't just stack with other items like item 3107 that could make whoever you cast spells on live forever. I'd like all heroes to be able to use unique items that let them build multiple paths like this. Why shouldn't Zyra have the option to build a more defensive item set if that's she wants or needs to help her ADC? I want items that can change the way your character plays and rewards that style of play. As opposed to now where you know what someone is going to build as soon as you see them enter the match.

I agree, especially once runes/masteries are gutted there wont be much room for strategic customization... the build paths are very linear and boring.

Though I don't see item 3089 hardly ever as a mage tbh

Some rioter, I think meddler but don't quote me on that, said that they were looking to look at itemization early next year. Diver and Mage itemization was specifically mentioned.

Those should hit around January/February, if not sooner.

And Support itemization, dispite having as many items as every other class, is weak. The reason it is weak despite being equal is that half of it relates to gold gen/sightstone/combination of both, and the rest is split between damage dealers(ahahaha Im kidding, there is no damage enhancing utility items! The closest we get are item 3151 and item 3116, but those are midlaner items. Which is a problem), enchanters(which the only well balanced items build out of item 3028), and tanks(which is abused by regular tanks too).

So really each branch of support only has 2-3 items which are useful to it, and there is little choice that you can do to build around the current game state.

Compared to adc items which each adc can use all of the items, even if the items don't particularly synergize with the champ(unlike examples for the support like TahmKench with item 3174 or Zyra with item 3107 where the items actives/passives/stats are either completely useless or severely weakened if used on the champ).

Wait who builds item 3374 on anything outside of Veigar anymore? item 3135 is the way to go. Its not only cheaper but gives you more damage to tanks and anybody with a full MR item built if I'm not mistaken (it may be that they need 100 MR but I don't remember offhand the exact #)
