Toxic Tier Supports: A Continued Discussion On A New Forum

http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=4336732&highlight=splougy Back when the original forums were a thing, I posted a discussion pointing out toxic picks which do not belong bottom as they function to well with little to no counter play (the very definition of toxic in League terminology). It had several points about champs that have been fixed already to be made less toxic far before reworks were discussed publicly (Namely Sona : The instrument of toxicity).

Since some time has passed and the forums are now read-only, I will bring up the discussion again with more current points that may no longer be an issue. As the title suggests we are going to be focusing on things brought bottom lane which kill enjoyment for the enemy team as well as your own team mates as well.

Anivia Still an unrelenting godless killing machine, support Anivia has seen no change to her supportive capabilities except PEOPLE CAN BE KNOCKED INTO HER TERRAIN (Vayne, Gnar, Ect.) AND AN IMPROVEMENT OF AIMING ON HER STUN! Anyone who plays Anivia knows how ez it is to land her stun and make it hell for an enemy laner especially with how pathing currently works. On top of that all she needs to do is graze you with her Q or have you in her R (post-6) and she has an ability that crits! Anivia's utility is boundless from baiting, AA/MS slows, Stuns, pseudo-peel, lane control... we can sit here for days and talk about all the utility she has to offer. On top of that she's more likely to secure kills for herself rather than allow her carry to get them leading to frustration on both teams. GL ganking her as well... you won't stand a chance if she has vision which any support player worth there weight will be constantly warding.

Brand Hardly changing... Brand is still an excessively powerful Defensive utility mage. With the free damage from his passive he's free to build AP Bruiser. The synergy with his kit and Crystal Scepter leads to all the supportive capability he needs as he melts everything in sight. Tank or no, you're going to have an extremely difficult time dealing with him as he is peeling for people you don't wanna be getting hit by in the first place! Think you're safe from his... "No Mobility?" well Brand doesn't need mobility to ruin your day and save his carry. A sinister Strategist, a smart Brand will lvl E first and use it to poke you down all day, especially if you're not paying attention to what he hit before!

Veigar Now I know what you're thinking... "But Veigar needs farm to be useful!" Well... you're right. That's why he will build a Relic shield first and farm his Q on Siege minions to maximize the potential of his Q farm synergy. Personally I have had a Veigar support many times in my ranked matches and I tell him "Get every siege, even if Relic is down". This lead to a monster... Mowing down bottom lane so hard there jungler turned it into a 3v2 lane leaving mid and Top to free farm every time I had a random Veigar support. Every time, 12 out of 12 games... Passive mana regen, Free AP for farming, a bad ass AoE stun and an ulti that scales with the enemy's AP and Veigar can ruin anyones day. This one pump chump isn't to be taken lightly, not in mid and definitely not while supporting!

Malphite It doesn't matter how Malphite builds... Weather AP, AD, or all Tank... a Malphite bottom lane means constant long range harass and near meaningless pokes by your support (From passive). Personally, I've never seen a bad or semi decent malphite from bottom lane. Instead they are always the reason you win a major teamfight assassinating the enemy carries, especially if they are AP or AD. Good luck stopping this unstoppable machine once he picks up steam, as a Tank he has all the tools required to ruin your day. From splash damage, free damage and armor, Leeching MS (Stealing yours so he moves faster), another aoe slow, and an AoE knock up; you aren't getting away from this thing any time soon.

Ashe The Marksman support, the free damage from her crit, slows, long range poke, free vision, amazing AD support synergy, and the best initiate stun in the game; Ashe is a serious threat when paired with any other marksman. While more susceptible to gangs than other supports mentioned, leaving her alone can prove to be quite idiotic in any game as a support! Either building Spell thief edge or runic shield first she can prove quite capable in the gold department and can prove quite annoying with her range and poke capability. Generally building more damage-y, she can prove annoying and a fatal distraction in team fights much like Zyra Ignoring her she gets what she wants... go after she still gets what she wants...

Urgot Improvements to current Urgot have not helped matters in the slightest and have only made him an even bigger threat as support. Urgot doesn't need to build damage to ruin anyones day! With Armor shred, damage reduction, a slow attached to his bubble, and a suppression into a placement disruption with innate tankyness, and Urgot is a major pain in the ass. Weather building Tanky or all damage, Urgot is there and has excellent capabilities to disrupt your farm and bully you out of lane to ensure his carry can get a decent level advantage over you. In team fights good lick penetrating the enemy front line only to be thrown back out by fatgot and poked to death while everyone laughs at your misfortune for not checking to see if he had his ulti to say NOPE!

Udyr Mana gated early, Udyr is still one of the best Zone Control Support choices around (Manly because he isn't suppose to be support...) Easily taking out enemy wards once planted, Udyr lives to deny you of vision and enjoyment. While he is melee, his poke potential is quite exceptional and can easily force you out of lane and deny farm with scare tactics. Once he picks up speed and mid game comes around he'll be his typical Godyr self, roaming and beating the living piss out of anyone close enough for him to grab!

Yorick Yorick is toxic everywhere... and bottom lane is no exception. Building tanky and for mana sustain, Yorick can poke your idiot carry and baby sitter out of your lane faster than you can shake a stick at the raccoon eating your garbage. Lock on ghouls which offer slows, free life on hit for yorick, and a ghoul when he smacks you with his shovel, you'll soon learn the fealty of fighting him as you opt to smash your screen and keyboard with a brick rather than dealing with the frustration of fighting him. On top of that he can make a copy of his marksman who scales with said marksman and have two other idiots who can't take care of themselves wrecking everything in sight, turrets included. Luckily, he is queued up for a rework and might not be a problem soon. Will have to test once this happens.

Heimerdinger Basically playing itself with out stealing farm, Heimerdonger offers zone control, stuns, free Hp5 which is quite powerful early on, and exceptional poke with rockets. The Donger lives to watch you writhe in agony as his turrets, guarded by a marksman, are now free to keep you, your lane partner, and your jungler back away from his established zone.

These champions supportive capabilities are a straight on the health of the game and need to be cut while retaining there current lane power for the health of the game. Yes it's a lot to ask for, but that's why it's worth while to hope and point out stuff like this. Nothing ez is worth doing, so we do hard stuff to fill more reward once we succeed, and if we fail we just shrug it off cuz it's hard and everyone will understand.

Yes, despite the nerf to lich bane, the rework and her increased cool downs, she's still toxic, but the toxicity has gone down dramatically. Going from Botulinum toxin to Mercury.

All I see here is you being mad that people are "breaking the meta". These people play these champs in support roles because they're strong. You pointed this out passionately for everyone. However, changing these champions just so the few people who do this stop it, is out of line and unnecessary. Anivia is a caster, ergo she will have strong magic damage, and the magic crit is a part of her kit, and would make her useless if it were gone. Udyr is played botlane rarely, and when he is, he is easily kited my any competent adc, and any support should be able to stop him in his tracks. Urgot has very little team-based utility, and the armor shred isn't that great until 9, and usually the lane winner is decided by then. Malphite can be easily ignored, because his early damage is pitiful. Please don't try and change a bunch of champions for the few people who break the meta with them.
