Is there even a reason to get Runic Blessing?

It takes at least 16 points in defense to get, and it's not even a good shield considering is 50 health the entire game. They should change it so that it's lower in the mastery tree or make it scale by level so that it isn't some random mastery point really high up that no one will use.

they need to make it refresh when you back.

Swap it to the tip of the Defense Tree and put tenacity in its place.

Then buff it a LOT. Make it regenerate every time you back and have it gain a few extra HP each time you level. Suddenly great.

or make it recover 1 shield point/5 seconds.

It's good for lvl 1 invades, and that's about it.

It would be really neat (and maybe OP) if they made it a bit like malphite's passive, and just had it recover health over time out of combat, or like reset every 30 seconds, as well as boosting the health with level.

I think it has some value if you are a weak laner and worried about the opponent all-inning you within the first two levels, or are going for some sort of invade strategy where the shield will get broken instantly but still contribute heavily to your survival.

However, it is too far in the defense tree for it to be worthwhile on anyone but a tank or bruiser, and even then the later masteries should define your role, not your early game.

Moving it earlier in the defensive tree would make a lot more sense because the early masteries should determine how you play the early game, and Runic Blessing is distinctly an early game mastery. However, it may be too valuable if it is too early, so maybe require 8 points in the defensive mastery tree? That would be about right.

Runic blessing exists to be a reminder that Riot's design team is bad.

the most powerful mastery for level 1 fights by a WIDE margin in a game that can easily be decided in the first few minutes.

buster kiton11/16/2014, 4:09:02 PM2 votes

You need to proc it 3 times before it's as effective as a potion. The shield in itself is worth less than 12 gold.

So no, do not take that mastery. It's baaaad.

DaCush11/16/2014, 9:16:19 PM2 votes

Definitely shouldn't scale imo. It's a mastery point and making it scale would make it too powerful for a mastery point. I do agree with moving it further down the tree though or else just replace it with something else.

don't forget you have to die to get it back, since its upon respawning. i think that it should be like 50 + 5 per level and should reset upon recall or respawn. maybe even have it come back up after X time out of combat.

AbyssionKnight11/17/2014, 12:46:05 AM1 votes

It might be better in the new jungle, since it's very difficult the first 2-3 clears.

It's for mastery builds that are already naturally tank-based. I use Runic Blessing on my tank junglers if I use them. The 50 HP is really noticeable in the jungle at early levels. It helps keep health high for ganks after nabbing buffs too. You'll definitely notice it there. As far as anywhere else like say... top lane, no not really all that useful, but if you're already a tank, I can see why someone would pick it. It's not something you go out of your way to nab, but it is useful.

Kuroi8611/17/2014, 7:13:01 AM1 votes

It's pretty much a pointless mastery, the only one I know of.

Spacesuit Spiff11/17/2014, 11:01:05 AM1 votes

Shoulda seen my face when I saw a Kayle with it the other day...

It should be removed, IMO. The Masteries shouldn't add a bunch of extra mechanics that we have to pay attention to, and a Malph shield would be ridiculous. I think there should be one "active" Mastery in each tree that defines the class; Dangerous Game works really well, the Defense one could be something along the lines of "CC-ing an enemy reduces their damage output by 5%" and the Utility one could be the "get gold on poke" one. The other masteries should be able to be safely ignored outside of LCS-level calculations.

Lord Dusteon11/16/2014, 4:13:04 PM1 votes

It could theoretically be good for level 1 invade strategies, but that is literally it.

SecretAgentHulk11/16/2014, 4:49:17 PM1 votes

Can't speak to where on the mastery tree it should be, but if you (not OP "you", reader-in-general "you") think it's stupidly underpowered you're wrong. That 50HP is a huge deal in the first few levels. I thought it was dumb too, but when I stopped using it in favor of something else, my tank-support game especially was noticeably impacted.

TeemoHunter133711/17/2014, 6:06:04 PM1 votes

just place near the tier 1 or tier 2 list in the defense masteries. than itll be worth for some ppl

Junkο11/16/2014, 7:47:07 PM1 votes

I laugh everytime i see somebody take it. Even if it worked like Malphite shield it would still be a waste of a mastery point.

the season is literally ending in 2 days and it will not exist anymore why are u ppl trying to devote time to try and make it better
