I Could care less if you made it cost more, but really? mana front? that's THE stat people buy it for it was my rush item on ziggs syndra and others wth are we surpose to do now riot if theres 2 mages on the team who the hell gets the blue buff? what if its a ap jungler? Your killing us riot, im a mage player i think mages are underpowered BUT NOT BECAUSE OF ITEMS Please riot leave athenes alone just please it doesn't need a hard nerf 
No matter How much you want Mana regen to be a battle of attrition It just cant be it makes for the most boreing games, if mid laner doesn't have mana: no fighting, if other ap has no mana: no fight you cant just remove %mana per second it was what kept mages like ziggs alive i used athenes in 10-20 of my Mage builds, and riot if you think your buffing ap items then you need a talking to about what makes a item good, and what makes a item bad (example: what your doing to ap items)
