@Riotrepertoir nerfing Fizz's E is a mistake

I know this isn't official and this may get downvoted because I said that we shouldn't nerf the troll poll but bear with me. This is the quote this is about:

Honestly, it probably doesn't make sense to stay what it is if tanky builds are effective for him. Having burst avoidance/mitigation is cool, but having it on top of general tankiness, good damage, and mobility probably isn't cool. I'm not sure whether the best thing to do is to nerf Fizz's E, or to just make him do less damage with tanky builds.

Normally this wouldn't worry me but it does now because I saw another post about how fizz may get changes in 5.17/5.18 and I want to explain why nerfing his E is a bad idea. So Fizz's intended build is as an AP assassin but has recently been built as a bruiser/tank and received a lot of hate for it because he retains his slipperyness and some of the burst while gaining tons of shred and damage from his W while being tanky at the same time as well as still getting the 20% damage increase on his ult. So it seems the problem is his itemization. Problem solved. However, what part of his kit allows him to build those items? His W is one option and Riot tried to fix that in 5.7 and it gave AP fizz a substantial buff but it didn't really nerf AD fizz at all. So it must be something else. Here's my suggestion, make the 20% damage increase on his ult, MAGIC damage only and not ALL damage. This way AD fizz will be missing a huge part of his kit, punishing AD fizz but not hurting AP fizz. This is a better option because nerfing his E is only a nerf to AP fizz and doesn't do anything to AD fizz, the problem.

+1 If they nerf his e in his current state ap Fizz without follow up changes will join to Kappadin in the trash club, while leaving bruiser Fizz nearly untouched. There is howewever an overall problem with his lvl6 trade potential, doesn't matter ad or ap he is nearly untradeable if he land everything. My solution is decrase his lvl6 powerspike a bit, but compensate ap Fizz later in the game. I posted it a few times before:

W: Acive dmg from 10 / 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 (+ 25% AP) to 10 / 15 / 20 / 25 / 30 (+ 35% AP)

R: Damage amplifier from 20% to 10% / 20% / 30% and make it to exclude damage from aa ( so it will still boost item 3057 item 3078 item 3153 and bruiser Fizz won't be dead)

Nerfing his e alone will not solve issues with him. He is fustrating i understand but If Fizz get nerfs because it is fustrating to play against then half of the champion pool should get gutted to the oblivion. He is counterable and manageable. just instead of crying here on the boards for nerf go practice and improve your skills Crybabies. There will be always a champion to cry about.

Or we could make Fizz's identity revolve around him being a trolly untargetable Fighter, hopping around on his pole instead of Q super burst.

Posting on here and defending a very hated champion like that takes guts. And you don't sound like you're crying over how your favorite champion (if he is your favorite that is) may get nerfed, so I can respect your opinion on this.

But I wouldn't exactly say that AP Fizz ISN'T a problem at the moment, I think he's pretty frustrating to play against regardless of which build he chooses. If they are planning on making any changes to him like you said, then making some slight changes to the ability thats the most frustrating for his opponents would make the most sense.

I'd probably just suggest something like reducing the time he can stay untargetable on his pole so he has to try and time it better if he wants to dodge anything, or maybe just reduce the distance on the second jump.

Did they say what changes they were considering specifically?

Thanks! He is my favorite champion though I don't think he's perfectly balanced like some Fizz players do. AP Fizz does have some issues though I feel like AD fizz is much worse to deal with. I have a quote from repertoir up there, he seems to be saying they're considering nerfing his E, and I believe it was meddler who said he was on the radar for changes in 5.17 or 5.18.

they should restrict his trollpole instead. either make it possible to dodge abilities but lose the second jump, or you hold the button down and get the double jump that doesnt allow you to change direction, or dodge spells, but deals damge on impact.

I think Fizz (AP, AD, bruiser) gets too slippery when building CDR. Toning down some of his slipperiness might be a good idea.
