Concerned on what to do if my laneing opponent arrives late for whatever reason.

I have been recently wondering on what to do if my laneing opponent arrives late to lane, maybe from a bad connection, or had to do something, or for some other reason that isn't just because they they didn't come to lane in time. I mean such as they couldn't get to play the game, not just didn't come to lane and was elsewhere on the map. What I would normally do is give them a little bit of a breather till they can equalize the gap and be able to compete against the level gap and gold gap. I am worried that doing this would be a reportable offence for not capitalizing on the advantage but I always feel like a dick after killing someone that is 3 -4 levels down though no fault of their own. I would like to know what other players do in this situation and see if i should keep doing what i do or if i should just stomp them.

Yeah, don't troll your team, by allowing somebody on the other team who is weak to come back on purpose. Whatever the reason they weren't there, they trolled their team and the solution is not to troll equally on your side.

Pretty much what's been said already. Destroy your enemy regardless of the circumstances. You owe it to yourself to win and, to a lesser extent, you owe it to your team.

Whatever problems, weaknesses, or mistakes made your enemy has, it is your job to capitalize on them and make full use of whatever advantages you have to ensure total victory.

If it's a ranked game destroy them, preferably even call your jungler and dive them. If it's not ranked then who cares. Either way it's not reportable, if it was reportable to not capitalize on every single mistake anyone below Master/Challenger would be permabanned by now.

Know that you are very unlikely to be given the same privilege should the same happen to you. It's not worth it. Show no mercy, well, not that type of mercy but the mercy of utterly destroying them and ending the game ASAP. Because it is horrible to be stuck in a game where you can't surrender but you're a level 5 Tryndamere who can literally do nothing against the level 8 Irelia who had been free farming the entire time with a whole item on you. So the best mercy is to destroy them and end the game.

I mean don't go int into them, but... noone would notice if you played less agressive than you normally do (though obviously if they engage just kill em)

Abuse them. If there are much better then you they will recover and win. If they are only meh better its a fair lane. If they where worse then you they woulda lost lane regardless. It is better to reward skilled allies then unlucky opponents if you want to climb ranked ladder.

Crush them. You owe it to your team.

If your laptop ran out of battery mid game, and it took you 5 minutes to get League back up and running and get back into the game, do you think your enemy would have mercy?

Sounds like being a ball-breaker, but it's just the bottom line.

It's not your fault they are in their situation.

Allowing them a breather is assisting the enemy team.
