So I'm worried about the future reworks

There are two general parts to a rework.

Part 1: The Visual Update

I'm not going to go into too much detail on this, but I'll say that 99% of the time, visual updates are pretty coolio. I'm talking like:

Garen Alistar Karthus Twitch

They design team really knows what they're doing most of the time. I'm not worried about this part. However...

Part 2: The Gameplay Update

Lord have mercy.

I understand that gameplay updates are very very tricky, because there are so many things to consider:

  • ** Is this a balanced kit in respect to the current items/champions?**

  • Does this maintain the original concept/role of the champion?

  • Does this provide interesting mechanics/is this unique?

And although I understand these difficulties, the past few reworks have been** iffy**, to put it lightly. Sure, now they're kind of balancing out but they were a problem when they came out (and some may argue even still). These are the qualities I've been noticing in the past reworks that really trouble me:

  • **Drastic change or shift in playstyle of the champion. ** (Changes the original concept.)

  • Needlessly overloaded kits. (Do we really need millions of passives in 1 ability?)

  • Change in reliability. Especially with targeted abilities. (Your simple target ability is now a narrow projectile.)

  • Strange (albeit humorous) "minigames". (Pretty tedious, I'm already trying to play THIS game.)

Now I'm not just going to stand here and pretend that these things can't be good either, but the thing is... There are much more ways that these things can go wrong. Nevertheless, I will still have faith in Rito to continue to make quality products. I'm just scared that the Taric rework will look like this:

Taric Taric: The Geml0rd who loves Cummingtonite

Q: Skillshot that throws a gem at an ally and heals them for for 5% of the HP for every dream you've given up on.

W: Narrow aoe skillshot that makes the ground erupt gems, dealing damage based on the number of tears you shed every night.

E: Passively doubles your health regen when you're in the lower side of river and gives you 300% damage towards male champions whose names start with a vowel. Toggle ability that stuns champions on basic attack every time you admit you've disappointed your mother.

R: Global skillshot that just automatically kills enemies within an aoe radius if you promise to uninstall after game.

... ... ...

tl;dr: Why

I just wish Riot did some follow up on the nerfed reworks they did for example Lucian. Sure when Lucian was reworked he became a monster but then they took almost all of his strengths away and made him into a pseudo lategame carry.

I would much rather see them buff his passive so it's always at 50% of ad all game instead of making it scale, clean up the w animation and give it a small ad ratio. Then Lucian would be viable again.

Have mercy Rito. They couldn't prolong these reworks any longer...
