Add player name to Inventory pings

KoreanEzMode··35 votes·1,023 views

First let me say: This suggestion has nothing to do with me, it's just an issue i've noticed in my games

Inventory pings have been used (in my experience) as 80% Toxic pinging, 20% Legit pinging enemy items

Pinging your teammates items, essentially calling out their build, causes tilt. It makes them doubt their build, or creates tension between teammates. Players love to ping items due to the anonymity of it, There's no backlash on them for pinging a teammates build in a harassing manner.

Please consider this rito

There's literally no reason to add player name. Snowflakes like you are so insecure that you feel the need to know who's pinging your items. Like the first person said, this won't accomplish anything most people would just flame the person once they found out who it was.

Not when there's as many as there are in the league community

I get what you're saying, but that's just a lame political "put down" now. It got tossed around so much it just sounds stupid and is not really offensive to anyone. It's almost as bad as "libtard". Those political "put downs" just got old and sound really ignorant.

It's funny how this guy is at -5 downvotes but nobody can argue with that lol.

There are a lot of people above that already argued. You can use it to mute someone obnoxious. If it's the player pinging their own item, you know it's not someone else being like "Yo wtf is this why buld it" but it's them saying "I have this, we can build strategy based on that". Also If foreign player pings it, it's much easier to assume they may be asking "Are you prepared to use this", so that others wouldn't be confused it's the palyer himself pinging he's prepared.

There's a lot of use for this, it makes it much more clear what is the point of the message, and If there is even a point. If I know it's the player spam-pinging something they don't like about my build because they already flamed, I know I can just ignore them as they aren't really trying to communicate, they are trying to flame. If it's someone spam-pinging while they weren't tilting before, I know it's worth actually trying to bother explaining them why I bothered building that or If I can use it or If I couldn't.

But no, let's turn a small change for clarity into insecure snowflakes.

yeah would be a real shame if people were accountable for their actions. That´s why the internet is such a nice place after all. ** and btw what kind hypocritical logic is this?:** flaming others in anonymity ----> good getting flamed by others for flaming ----> bad?

no, sounds like a poor excuse for being an asshole. instead of setting arbitrary boundaries how toxic a person is allowed to be and thereby justifying our own toxic behavior we should just act the best way we can. am i offended when someone shouts ez after a game? probably not. someone shouldn´t be that fragile that´s right. but is this guy trying his best to offend me or others? definitely, so fuck him.

i would rather see who is actually arguing with me, than having b5 billy passive-aggressively commenting on my build from complete safety, despite him having more than likely next to no experience with my champ nor my role.

to bring this to an end, despite all that, pinging your item should not tilt you [the op]. that is just silly. you decided to go off meta (which includes everything that is not 100% cookie-cutter) and you should have known full well that the lol community mostly consists of a bunch of monkeys who will persistently fight everything that is different and could resemble a creative thought. so don´t be surprised when they try to dictate your build/playstyle fucking everything, because as we all know you are not allowed to do something "new" unless someone else did it before!

So how would this help you? For you to get mad at that person? Reporting them for this won’t do anything lol

Its harassment, so it would mark them or potentially penalize them.

Zed pings item 3026 Could mean "hey, I'm gonna one shot them, but they're gonna be back in 4 seconds, so make sure you finish them off, alright Jinx ?" Just an example. As it is, ghosting pings is kinda annoying.

It helps with the report log when someone is griefing, it also lets OP mute the pings of someone doing shit to be obnoxious... which we all know happens a lot

I can see both sides.

Your side:
If nothing changes- The player being pinged will be tilted, but not know who did it.

Their side: If they don't have anonymity- A large number of teammates won't bother pointing items or runes out, because the player being singled out might get really defensive at them for pointing it out.

I'm on the the side of anonymity. Players can be muted. Before this feature was added, players were very cautious to point out that somebody built something wrong... because a lot of people get defensive if you try to point it out. Now that there's anonymity, they can point it out without backlash. They can also troll too, but again, there's the mute option.

It makes them doubt their build,

Yeah maybe they actually should doubt their item 3512 rush on Darius

I really want the name of the inventory ping to be in the game too. I hate it when every time some player thinks I made a bad play or that I am bad they spam ping that titanic hydra item I have just because they never see it on poppy. It is really annoying. I got used to it for the most part now but that's just sad that I got used to it lol.

You forgot the percentage for those of us that ping our own items so our teammates know we just got Knights Vow or Redemption. ^-^
