The higher the elo the worse off the problem becomes.. Diamond at jungling and mid? Gold/Plat at ADC/Support? Got filled ADC? Other team has a D2 ADC main? Guess who just lost the game.
No one should be expected to be Diamond at all the roles. The PROS aren't even at that level.

The problem is that EVERYONE has to wait, the cumulative cost on the whole playerbase for you to get everything you want all the time without any concession is actually very large compared to just playing one game in a role you don't like every once in a while.
No, ranked requires Random role selection because Aram is a serious competitive mode to Riot.

Because NOBODY does it then. Do you know how frustrating it is to be a Support AND Jungle player in a community full of selfish players that will exclusively lock Mid/Top or Top/Mid? Because of these people that don't want to play Support, the people that have Support in their secondary slot will 100% of time get Support.
It feels to good to actually get Jungle for once if I lock in Support as Secondary, and I think it's good like that.
I just love it when I queue up for a game and get the role I want............

Based on recent history, Riot will leave it on all season then admit at the end that leaving it on all season was a mistake. They will then turn it off, everyone will be happy for a few seconds, and then Riot will do something equally stupid to fuck up queues for another year.

Autofill does not exclusively place you in the Support role though- it just happens a majority of the time. Because that's what autofill does- it puts you in the role that's needed at that time.
Will that overwhelmingly place you in Support? Probably. Is this a sign that the game is broken? No. Because Support is all about helping someone else get the glory. It doesn't matter what game you play- Rainbow Six, League of Legends, Battlefield, etc. The majority of players do not want to be the medic or the mechanic, they want to be the guy with the gun.
For League, that is literally every other role but Support.
I remember making a post similar to this. It was downvoted to hell. People said I shouldn't be playing ranked if I couldn't play support. lul
