The Swain Change Opinion - Thoughts by a Swain Main
I say this change is actually wonderful, it helps Swain a lot more than many people might think. First off, his passive now has soul fragments giving health, mana, and a stack which grants 5 health each up to 9999 stacks I think... Now most people might think this will make him ridiculously tanky but reminder the only things that he can get soul fragments from are his passive affecting enemy champs cc'd, and his w which is easily dodged. Around the 20 minute mark Swain would most likely have enough stacks to consider the amount of health he gets to being around a giant's belt, which is fine. His Q also had a minor change, it doesn't give mana back by killing units of any kind (because his passive has it now for soul fragments) and can go through minions so it is easier for him to deal with enemy laners. For example, most enemy laners stand behind their minions, and when swain lands an e to pull in the opponent, before the change if there were still minions, you had exactly no change of being able to hit the enemy champion across the minions (unless the q kills them of course), however now with the change, the q goes through them regardless and hits the enemy champion to deal damage. That is literally all I can say much about it. His ultimate had the biggest change, starting off instead of soul fragments, the ultimate now costs 100 mana (even though it doesn't show it) and has its damage ticks scaling with ap, and the healing you get from each tick also scaling with ap, his ult also drains from ALL targets now instead of just three, and as an added bonus, the amount of health you got from your stacks is doubled. This is what I think how old swain's use of his ultimate, and new swain's use of ultimate perfectly combine together, because previous people just used the ult just to get the demonflare off to deal massive damage to the enemy team. Now people use it as if it was old swain and new swain, they most likely should use it in team fights to deal continuous damage to the enemy team within range, and healing for EVERYTHING that is being damaged in the ultimate range, so you have a lot of healing like old swain when he had his ultimate. Then demonflare is also changed, instead of it being prior to how many soul fragments he had, its prior to how much heal you drained over that duration to increase the damage. I say the change for the ult was completely necessary, because originally the first part of his ult on release was never quite used, demonflare was the only thing that was being used. Now, people will be using both parts of the ultimate together now in order to use it properly, since you need to drain quite a bit of health in order to maximize the damage of demonflare. But is he overloaded now? Not really. The healing of his ultimate can be countered easily with grievous wounds, so someone could get mortal reminder or morel in order to counter his healing. And remember he deals more damage the more health he drains, so once he ults try to stay out of his range as much as possible. For the passive part being overloaded, at first I admit I was concerned this will make him another veigar who is able to have a ridiculously high amount of a single stat, but really the most stacks you will usually get in a match would be around 75, which is around 375 bonus health, which is merely around the amount of health from a giant's belt, it isn't that much to deal with either. Swain did need minor tweaks here and there, but I say this change almost fixed them all for how people should play swain. Coming from someone who mained swain since started the game, I say this is a great change for Swain.
