So I heard you were nerfing Eve again...

Apparently a 40 mana cost on her W (an otherwise costless spell). It only removes slows and gives a slight boost and it's a key reset spell on her to get out the damage she needs.

While I don't main her, I like playing her once in a while. She's fun and challenging and great against passive teams - champs that like to farm right next to turret can actually be ganked instead of freefarming to oblivion, ermagerd.

But even with that it's not like she's OP because of it, because her damage takes a long while to get out and a lot of it boils down to catching and chasing people down rather than being the most useful at teamfighting and peeling. And yet we're nerfing her again while she's just grazing on the cusp of being in the meta.

So I wanted to call some attention to champs you have blatantly overlooked - and that everybody else has as well.

Amumu : "I thought you'd never picked me to get nerfed... I've been at 54% winrates consistently since the beginning of the season (no joke, since the very start of the Cinderhulk era) and have only really seen a shift in my W's damage from mid to late-game."

Yeah holy shit. 8 bloody months of being in the meta heavy-handedly, and I know this because he's been a pocket pick of mine - if I don't know what to pick or I don't know what I feel like playing, or even if I'm not sure I can rely on my usual champs. He's that secret jungle-carry that I like to have on backup in case of a rainy day. And every time I play him, I think, "Amumu seems a little too strong... maybe I'm just good at him. Am I good at him? I don't feel like I'm great with him."

To be fair, Amumu's character almost inspires self-loathing and doubt every time he's played - I never feel great when I play him. Just sad. And useless. And like I'm not actually carrying. And then I see damage done and taken and I go, "Oh wow that's more than I expected."

But I also go and check on his winrates every time afterward.

And it has not failed to display this fact: He is in the meta. He is strong. He's almost overbearing. He and Ahri haven't left the top for a long while, even despite the, uh... "nerfs" you handed him a couple patches ago (and by nerfs I mean slight power-shift to late-midgame).

Now, Amumu mains, okay. You probably deserve these rates and this power since you have to deal with hating yourself for the duration of the game and wanting to go lie down and cry yourself to sleep (or is that just me?). I'm not making this a "nerf Amumu he's so OP wtf" thread - I'm making this a thread about "Riot, what the are you even doing anymore". I don't know what you're doing or what you plan on doing or why you're doing the things you do and for what reason you do them because they are making less and less sense. Some champs have been insanely meta for a long time and have maintained great winrates while others have basically been sitting there waiting for a moment to shine before getting stomped into muck.

Why, though? Is it because Eve's not that popular? Amumu's even less popular - Ahri's twice as popular. Is it a middle-ground? Amumu and Eve have similar winrates in Diamond and above with the only difference being that Eve's just a tad more consistent and less all over the place, though that's probably more due to her not having to hit a long range Q - but that's not even a good reason to nerf her, either, because look at Annie! She has the same kind of simple playstyle as Eve with a similar - actually higher - winrate. She even gets played more. She gets played in several roles, can do multiple things, brings so much more to the table - what the what? Why?

Again, I don't play Eve regularly. I've only ever played her in 8 games in ranked. I find her fun once in a while, but I just don't find her palatable enough to main her. But other people main her, and she's been a pretty tricky champ to keep up as a main with all the constant changes she keeps getting. And when I see a champ getting nerfed - even if I don't like them, even if I hate them - I still take a look at what it's like (unless it's Poppy because fuck that bitch) - if I think it's not necessary, I'll feel ambivalent about it. I haven't spoken up until now, but I've always been like "What... I don't... why."

Well, here - I'm finally going to just ask you. I'm just going to say "Whyyyyyyyyyy why. Why. Why this decision why. It makes no sense. There's no rhyme or reason. I don't get it. What are you trying to accomplish? What is your thought process? Did you even think this through all the way?" Because this is potentially just another example in the long line of actions you've taken that clash with your logic - another low-counterplay champ that needs to have some "risk" added to her kit. Some "trickiness". Some kind of management to her to make you have to think and plan.

If it's because of winrates, why aren't Ahri or Amumu seeing nerfs?

If it's because of low-interactiveness with lacking counterplay, why is Annie still how she is?

If it's because she's a champ that just has too much utility and so needs to be just a little underwhelming to be balanced, why are Blitzcrank's scalings all 100% with some of the highest bases in the game while having some of the most oppressive utility to date?

If it's because you guys just hate the bitch and think she's too strong to leave viable and so want her under-the-radar until she gets reworked, then why is Poppy left virtually untouched despite being declared by Meddler himself "the most toxic champ in the game in terms of lack of counterplay"? (I guess technically she is one of the least played champs, but you get the idea)

And those aren't rhetorical questions - they're legitimate. Answer them. We deserve reasons for why certain things continue to clash with your ideals when you keep gut-checking others that do. Honestly, I don't get why the hell.

(For any that have not played Eve and don't see why this change is a hefty nerf, her W is key to her sticking power early-midgame. It resets cooldown by 1 second each time her Q hits, and this can result in you using it once every 6 seconds for 40 mana... for a speedboost and slow removal, and that's it. Considering she has minimal burst and rather lackluster damage without procing her sheen charges, this'll result in Eve going oom constantly early, which makes her snowball [which without it, her late-game by comparison to others is pretty aggressively meh] difficult to achieve.)

nerfing her is a good thing.

Then so is nerfing Annie.

Thanks for the well thoughtout post. Evelynn has been in Riot's line of sight ever since the vision changes. I wish they would stop nerfing her incrementally. Rito keeps chipping away at her kit, bit by bit to make her useless. I believe they want her to be 'olaf'd' until they can figure out what they can do with her.
