Veigar "changed" to allow for counterplay...

Annie still has none and blows up more enemies than he ever did.

GG, Rito.

Edit: See also Mord and Ryze for short-range champions reworked due to having "no counterplay".

Correct. Its quite stupid.

Forget Annie. It's Katarina that's the bundle of broken bullshit.

Free Spells, Mobility creep, Kat's got it all.

No CC.

Can only damage 3 champs within a chosen area.

Heavily reliant upon her teammates to do initial damage for her to be able to reset.

Yes, Kat is extremely broken. Definitely better than Annie who presses R in an area, can hit all 5 people at once, can then follow up with another ability that can hit all 5 enemies at once with far better base and scaling, and has an eternal harass in lane on a 4 second cooldown tops while being a targeted point-and-click.

She's got the greatest CC of them all

Death

It's not reduced by Tenacity, and you can't do shit under it.

It's also the hardest CC to land and Annie lands it much better all by herself.

Now, if you have Kat and Annie on the same team, then absolutely, Kat is OP vicariously through Annie dropping the enemy's health so low that even an inbreed could pull off a penta.

Rekt by Annie, gg

So you're saying that Annie being oppressively uncounterable other than in champ select completely negates the fact that that's unbalanced?

K.

Well here. Let me draw some parallels for your pea brain:

Old Veigar:

  • Countered by range
  • Immobile
  • Mass area stun considered too oppressive and reliable.

New Veigar:

  • Has one 900 range ability now (hurray) that is a skillshot.
  • Immobile
  • Mass area stun that's still controlling but less reliable.
  • Super weak to mobility.

Annie then and now:

  • Countered by range.
  • Immobile
  • Mass area stun considered too oppressive and reliable that also does the most total damage in the game.
  • Stun refreshed within 5 seconds.

Clearly the choice to give Veigar "counterplay" and continue to let Annie romp about is completely fair and justified. Carry on.

The difference is that Veigar's old stun wasn't his ultimate. Annie's "stun" will come up again in 5 seconds after she uses Tibbers, but it won't be full team unless she gets within like 200 units of their whole team. Instead, it's likely to just be a single person stun from her Q for the next 100 seconds.

Also, I think it's important to note that item 3140 does in fact completely counter both of them (new Veigar not as much). That item's existence is the sole reason Malzahar never sees any pro play, so don't even whine about "why should I have to".

Her W has a 600 range and just a slightly lower radius than her ult when hitting at max range. Her ult has further range and does far more damage if landed with her stun while also just being easier to pick and choose where to put it down.

Please note that Sash doesn't negate her overwhelmingly high scaling and base damage, her ability to instantly nuke entire teams, or any follow up CC. Considering she can then area-stun again in a matter of seconds (if you've ever seen Annie with a Morell and Ionian boots, it's the most atrocious thing in the game) while having her short range be easily remedied by itemization thanks to Luden's 10% movement speed boost, she really doesn't have a meaningful weakness anymore. And that is why she is unbalanced - unless she just blatantly builds wrong or gets nuked immediately (the same thing said about Mord and Veigar before, get them at range and blow them up) there is no stopping her reliability.

As it stands, she needs something taken away - either it has to be her reliability or some form of her damage. Sona was considered too easy to use and do well with, so she lost scaling; Veigar, Ryze, and Mord were considered to have no counterplay, so they "changed" them to have some. Now Annie needs a similar treatment. She's the only champ still remaining that has limited to no counterplay for no actual trade-off.

If you want proof, she's being used top lane more and more - because she has a spammable, targeted, high base-damage Q. She has exactly the same issue that they hit Ryze for.

You got rekt by Annie. That's what I said.

A lot of people play Annie, that's why Veigar got changed while she hasn't. If you main an unpopular champ then Riot has issue with changing them to suit the wider audience.
