Mid Lane Yi

I have been using Master Yi as my mid lane main champion lately and I've been really enjoying it. I'm not a great player (don't even play ranked), but I've been able to handle just about every lane match-up for the most part thus far. He has an extremely strong early game which allows him to snowball really well, far more easily than he would in the jungle, and his base movement speed allows him to roam pretty well.

Here's the thing that annoys me the most; Before just about every game that I play, my team flames me to all hell for picking Yi mid. By the end of most games they end up apologizing because I'm a pretty cooperative player and my win rate is awesome with Yi mid this season. However, when I do poorly (which we all do at some point), all I hear is "You're an idiot for picking Yi! You suck!" etc. What do you guys think about it? Am I an idiot? Do I suck? Or is yi a viable mid in this meta?

Yi is perfectly fine in mid, if your doing good and having fun, then your doing something right. :D

Hatas gunna hate. Anything can work in low elo. I used to hear that a lot when I played LeBlanc mid back in season 3. Then people started telling me she was stronger in season 4. Although, she's a snowbally assassin and snowballing and assassins were nerfed because of season 4.

People use the word 'meta' too frequently. People say a pick becomes strong due to the meta, but can never gives reasons why it's strong or what changed in order to make them strong.

Do I think he's strong in mid? No. I think he should get punished early, zoned from cs, and ganked easily. If you can make it work, kudos to you, keep it up.

MasterYi mid is really fun and has the potential to do well vs almost every assassin or mage mid lane if played right. mute button does wonders for nonbelievers.

I've played against Yi mid once and before the game started I thought it was a very stupid pick and would be an easy lane. I hated Alpha Strike before I had this lane but I hated it even more afterwards. Skillshot gonna land? Not any more. Stun? Nope, missed. It was frustrating until I figured out how to handle it but I don't know if it would be great or just an unexpected pick that takes people a while to get used to.

Haters in League? That almost never happens! Ho ho ho.. you can do badly at the start, and I say that as someone who is often first blood, and be flamed to hell. If you do well later the hate doesn't always stop. I got told to refund the Firecracker Jinx skin after a rough start against another Jinx and Taric by the Lulu support who was surprised I didn't want to trade with Jinx when Taric would constantly stun me if I got away from tower. You just gotta play your game and try not to pay attention to them.
