Does anyone use the Stormraiders keystone mastery?

SleepyWolfie··3 votes·1,229 views

No seriously, if anyone uses it please tell me. Otherwise, it should be replaced :)

So, lets think of ideas.

Ill give one: Maybe after you kill a minion, your next spell dmg is amplified. Well... its kinda shitty really... Anyone got an idea?

I use it 100%, all the time on Jhin ADC, but it's also viable for Nasus, Garen, Riven, Jayce, Hecarim, mainly tanky fights that deal high burst damage and then sort of fall off.

Try it on Jhin, best keystone mastery hands down.

Akali is SO HOT1 votes

I use it on Akali

Mmm ill give it a try on those. Still, what i find strange is that despite of what you say Girard, whenever i see those champions they use other Keystone masteries. Eg: I see Jhin use Thunderlords or Fervor.

On Jhin you can also pick Deathfire touch, since he gets ridiculously high amounts of AD.

Stormriders is pretty cool on assassins with no escapes, as Shaco and Rengar.

The usual trade is: Early game damage (TLD) VS Late game utility (SRS).

FAKER uses it on zed.

Vlad uses it. There are many other examples tbh

A lot of Vladimir use it. You can use it on Illaoi against certain team comps.
Some confident Assassin mains pick it over Thunderlord's.

An alternative could be: Your spells and abilities against enemy champions apply stacks of Stormfront. At two stacks, your next basic attack against that target shields you for a little bit and grants you a Lightning Cloak for a few seconds that deals magic damage to nearby enemies. 30 second cooldown.

It would be similar to the Storm Shield of Dominion. You could trick enemy champions into fighting you when you're low Health this way. Or you could win extended trades more easily when it's up. The cooldown would have to be long enough for that, though.
Ranged champions get the shield more easily but can't make any use of damage passive. Melee champions have a harder time getting the shield but can make use of the damage when they do.

You would pick Thunderlord's over this when you want more poke and burst damage. Also, Thunderlord's scales with Attack Damage and Ability Power and this wouldn't. It would still be good on Vladimir and Rengar (as he doesn't have a great escape ability), but it would be accessible to more champions.

See riven and rango use it.

I sometimes use it on Veigar.

Evelynn and warwick can both use it. Eve due to lack of sticking after her q nerf. Warwick since he has balls for an ms buff until he ult their head off

Pantheon Leblanc Evelynn Fiddlesticks Fiora Kassadin Malzahar MasterYi Shyvana Talon XinZhao Yorick Those are all pretty fun with it. Some more viable than others, but still fun. Panth is really fun and viable.

I think resolve (3rd "tank") tree needs the most work.. Both strength of ages and bond of stone feel pretty bad. And too many noobtrap choices along the buildup paths too. *coughvetscarcough

Strength of the Ages is one of the most popular keystones and Veteran's Scars is an impactful early game mastery.

"feel pretty bad" Doesn't mean they aren't useful. They just feel like shit. Scars is like the tank tree mastery for people who don't want to be a tank but want to be tanky enough to survive laning. Its not bad either, just awkward af for the tree it's on.

It's used on veigar sometimes. Other than that, I don't know who uses it.

Replace it with some sort of keystone that amplifies cc duration. The lower the cc duration the more it gets from the keystone.

Stuns/snare etc get 0.5 secs extra duration divided by the ability stun/snare duration (eg. 1 second stun becomes 1.5 second stun. 3 sec stun becomes 3.2 sec stun (rounded from 3.16)). Slows can get an additional 10% on the slow or you can increase the duration of the slow with the above method.

(knock ups aren't affected by this keystone, only the cc that can be reduced through tenacity)

Numbers can obviously be changed

Will be nice to have a non healer/shielder/tank keystone for champions like morgana support etc. It can also be used by non support champions too!

it's nice on an agressively built hecarim, charge i the E for massive damage and then have the stormraiders fro some extra damage and stickiness afterwards or a quick escape. Agressive heca is a bit cheese though.

It can work on some imobile casters like victor, veigar or ryze, as they do like the speed for repositioning and have neough damage to reliably proc it. Which brings me to one of the main issues with the masterie: it's to unreliable. On most champs that really could use extra mobillity, it's just not reliable enough. A strong but short speedbuff is a tool that you sually want to controll and not recive semi-randomly. Most of the time, the sppedbuff procs when you don't need it, or it doesn't proc once it is needed. The damage gateing also kinda locks it out from tank/utillity focused champs and also makes it worse vs tanky champs. The other big issue is that the damage focused masteries are far to strong. Theoretically, stormraiders would be great on assasins to get away or stick aroeound to finish of a target after their burst, but the extra burst from thunderlords is just far more important, since makeing shure you have the burst to kill your target is more important than makeing sure you get away afterwards. Similar for tanky dps champs like shy pr WW. They theoretically really could use the sticking power, but even if stormraiders would be reliable for them(which it isn't), the raw dps gained from fervor is just far superior, and the sustain+tankiness fromgrasp was far superior befor it was nerfed to the ground.
