Is mid lane Varus viable in low elo?

So I'm pretty new to ranked and possibly my weakest role is in mid. I've seen him being played mid lane in LCS alot lately (Elements are literally using him mid as I type this), but I was curious if he's actually viable for bronze/silver players as well, or if they are just so skilled they can make it work.

I've used Varus alot and I feel more comfortable with him than most ap mid laners so it would be nice to have this as an option if my top/jungle have some ap damage to make up for it.

Can you hit skillshots and have the basic ADC positionning ? You got your answer.

Anything is viable in low Elo. But I don't recommend something that can be pretty easily killed at lvl 6.

Anything is viable if you're truly good with it. However, Varus I would say is less viable because he lacks kill pressure. Generally LCS picks him because they just farm and then poke mid game. If your opponent isn't blind and can semi dodge your Qs, it's difficult to kill them.

In addition, Varus lacks very little self peel and if any tank wants to jump on you, they can do it without a problem, so he doesn't exactly shine in solo queue all that much.

Depends, are you talking AP, or AD Caster (Q Sniper)?

Everything is viable in low elo.

Actually, if you get early damage, you can smash a lot of assassins because of your ridiculous range and snare ult.

He's viable but he takes time to farm up, and even if you get mad fed it will still be difficult to carry 4 bads. I had a challenger smurf Varus go against me mid and he ended up with a score of like 25-5-10 but he still lost because his team had no CC and I was able to get them in some flash stuns with Annie when they stacked like morons. He was a nightmare to lane against though.

In my opinion with a good team and good team comp Varus is the most ridiculous champion as far as long range Harass. I think he's even worse than Ezreal especially now that they made it where Ezreal's Q doesn't proc Luden's. There's no reason any champion should be able to shoot some fking arrow over 2 screens away when it's not an ultimate or global.

At plat mmr for teambuilder I have had no trouble with Varus mid against teams with a lot of cc which is his hardest counter, so I would guess you won't have too much trouble. The only game that I've lost as him was with a shyvana jungle who went poachers + cinderhulk to farm her own jungle and never fought for objective control or in team fights.

The lower the elo gets, the more viable the champions become. Therefore a competitive pick is obviously viable at all elos. Actually, every champion is viable until really high diam/competitive. But some are harder to pull off, some are favoured by the meta, some work better against some comps... But tbh, you shouldn't really care. Just play to enjoy and progress in the game.

for low elo bronze/silver i recommend kog maw and brand. I carried myself in solo q from bronze 5 to silver 5 in about 20-30 games with kog maw holding a 80% win rate. Brand will stomp the mid lane because they dont know any lane mechanics and u can walk up and drop ur combo or poke with w. With kog maw they wont punish your early and u can hard carry with your massive range ap or ad tank whatever kog u go. As support i would go brand and w whenever the enemy adc goes for cs then punish him u land e q.

This is what worked for me escaping bronze 5 to silver 5 try it out.
