Tanks generally have clear tells for when they're about to jump on you. Know them so you'll know when and how to react.
Don't put yourself in positions where you don't have an out. I don't just mean a way to get away physically, I also mean a way to stop them in their tracks. For example, you're
, and a tank comes in to engage? Polymorph. Boom. But if you blow your poly for nothing, they'll know you don't have it and will be looking to engage. This puts you (and your carry!) in a precarious position for those few seconds, so you have to be aware of your vulnerability and position accordingly.
For example, yesterday I played a game as
with an enemy
(yeah, he's not technically a tank, but he's similar enough for this to be relevant). She was super aggressive with her tornados, and whenever she threw it, I had free-reign to jump on her ADC while I knew it was on cool-down. If she had been more discerning with her tornados, I wouldn't have been able to do as much. Remember, the threat of your anti-engage is just as important as the ability itself.
