Tanky Supports

How the hell do you fight against a Tanky support (such as TahmKench ,Alistar , Taric , and even freaking Sion )? Sure you could counter-pick, but what if you pick support first? I like playing supports such as Janna or Lulu, who honestly are no match for tanky supports.

Any tips? [sg-soraka] (and Pls, don't bother commenting if all you're gonna say is "you cant fight them" )

In my experience, getting poked down is really annoying.

Pokes really the answer. If those are your mains as a support than tanks are partially counter picks to you.

Tank supports are weakest if every time they walk up for a minion they get blasted for a large chunk of their health. I actually main Taric and I have nightmares of a Nami or zyra Support.

Tanks generally have clear tells for when they're about to jump on you. Know them so you'll know when and how to react.

Don't put yourself in positions where you don't have an out. I don't just mean a way to get away physically, I also mean a way to stop them in their tracks. For example, you're Lulu, and a tank comes in to engage? Polymorph. Boom. But if you blow your poly for nothing, they'll know you don't have it and will be looking to engage. This puts you (and your carry!) in a precarious position for those few seconds, so you have to be aware of your vulnerability and position accordingly.

For example, yesterday I played a game as Rakan with an enemy Janna (yeah, he's not technically a tank, but he's similar enough for this to be relevant). She was super aggressive with her tornados, and whenever she threw it, I had free-reign to jump on her ADC while I knew it was on cool-down. If she had been more discerning with her tornados, I wouldn't have been able to do as much. Remember, the threat of your anti-engage is just as important as the ability itself.

Hate to burst your Janna bubble, but Janna is probably Taric's hardest counter. All Taric wants to do is hard engage and Janna makes that impossible. If Taric ults, you just ult back and he wasted his ult. If he tries to stun someone, you just drop down a tornado and/or slow him. I dread having to play against Janna because her kit is built around countering hard engages.

If you struggle against Taric as Janna, I assume you waste your Q trying to poke the enemy. Just hang onto your tornado and only use it as a means to disengage when Taric starts his stun. You will make his life miserable.

Are you seriously complaining about melee supports when you can Aery poke them with auto attacks and cockblock them with abilities?

Morgana is a strong counterpick to tanky supports and their CC.

They can be also be vulnerable to getting poked by supports with abilities that go over the wave. Sona and Soraka, for example.

It's called disengage and play aggressive lol.

Brand is good vs those tanks listed and so in Zyra. Lulu and Nami have very good disengage and shields/heals/speed-ups.
