So.............new champs eh?

Why does it feel like new champions are ALWAYS crazy overpowered? Okay, okay, maybe it's just you don't know how to counter them yet. That's fine.

But can someone tell me WHY a champ needs:

Health Regen Slow Leash/Pull Stun Invisibility + Movement Speed An ult that auto-kills under a certain threshold of health An ult that can be reused immediately An ult that blinks An ult that gives extra gold to other champs (If your enemy team is fed with Pyke on it, there is no hope for you now.)

Literally what was Riot even thinking with this? pls nerf rito [sg-poppy]

I wouldn't know. He's on my perma ban list.

to make money

this entire season has been a mess of overpowered new releases and reworks (zoe is s tier still btw, same with kaisa, same with ornn, irelia is literally the best mid laner in the game, followed by swain who's probably the only mage left worth playing, rakan was god tier for months), you have to be blind to not notice the pattern by now

Had the opportunity to play as him, against him and wit him all day, here are my thoughts,

Lets start with his passive. It's strong, its really really strong. I swear its like having a built-in warmongs that's always active. even though he's supposed to be squish like an assassin you won't really be killing him in lane ever because of his passive. The grey health meter is way-way to forgiving and it almost makes him feel tanky, I'm curious to see if this passive would work well on a tank Pyke. you either have to commit and all in him right then and there or risk him backing off into a bush and returning to lane a few seconds later with pretty much full HP.

His pull (Q) is weak. It's slow to charge, slow to launch and the pull distance is pretty crap. It's a very situational skill. Compared to Blitzcrank Thresh and even Nautilus its very weak. Alot of the time landing a hook in a team fight doesn't do much because your team cant capitalize on the distance. If you want to throw them further behind you then you have to be willing to sacrifice yourself.

His Stealth (W) is very strong but only because of how much MS it gives. If they toned down the MS it grans on use i feel this move would be much more balanced. His W an also proc his passive so if a duel is going bad you can flash away and W around your opponent to regen all that HP you lost in the duel and sneak attack hi from behind. but the MS it grants is generous that most Pykes are using it as a travel tool rather then its intended purpose

His dash (E) is alright, its probably the only non-ultimate skill he has thats in a good place. they dash distance sucks but the added stun more then makes up for it.

His execute (R) is not as strong as people are making it out to be, the hitbox for it is whack and its surprisingly easy to bait out and dodge. On top of that it forces Pyke to commit to a fight so if he ults someone who;s retreating into their entire team the ult places Pyke right into the middle of the 1v5 where he can be easily focused.

In all honesty, he's not in a terrible spot.

Passive and W are in need of toning down, Q could use a bit of love, but thats about it.

From what I have seen of him, he is not that good. His hook takes so long to prepared that you cannot really use it as long as minions are there. His e is nice, but the range is not high enough to work vs enchanters and tanks just disengage with their cc. His item build is also a big issue. Since he is building full assassin, the team potentially is missing utility and protection. He won't get a solaris or a redemtion or has abilities that help to protect. Baislcy like a Leona, but more suiqshy anfd without protctive items. Pyke cannot really block stuff like Ezreal Qs either, since he is too squishy and will even with his sustain.

For jungle his cds are kinda too long. He won't die, but he is really slow in the jungle and I am not sure wether his gat ganking potential makes up for it.

From the videos I have seen and from what I experienced in the 3 games I saw him, he might be the best on a solo lane with a lot of jungle help past lvl6.

But he just debuted, and though his kit is very simple, maybe there will be changes to his shocking low winrate

I played against him, as the only immobile on my team, had to report 3 people for toxicity. I BANNED him next to avoid that, my team got toxic in champ select because missions.

THANKS RIOT.

As a Thresh main I can see how ABSOLUTELY BUSTED Pyke.

The WORST THING imo. After the invisibility. After the fact his Q can flip you back over him. Is the fact it has a variable cast animation. A HOOK. Has a varaible cast animation and then just flicks out at high speed. Do you know how to juke that?

Do you?

Do you have any idea how FURIOUS people would be if Thresh's kit was reworked into what Pyke's sporting right now?

The only thing I see really holding him back is the fact it's pretty dumb to take low-utility teams. He'll be obnoxiously strong in the 'right' situation and an obnoxious feeder in the 'wrong' situation. The yasuo of botlane.

hes actually pretty underwhelming IMO if he misses his hook.

If you just list traits of a champion's kit, they're going to sound OP.

It's better to elaborate why certain combinations/mechanics are bad rather than list a bunch of traits without a solid conclusion.
