Wukong JG. Tips?

I played a lot of wukong in S4 but in S5 the first clear is brutal! I find myself having to kill a crab just so I can get a pot or two after upgrading machete. It also seems like his early game damage from ganks is sweet "bugger" all. I don't remember his early game being this rough before. I have been going with rangers just for the added sustain and then rushing cleaver. if anyone has any tips I am all ears.

Do you happen to start at red?

It really helps Junglers with weak early clears.
