Does Black Cleaver armor shred stack if two different champions buy?

GundayMonday··3 votes·10,818 views

If I buy a black cleaver on my champion, and my teammate also buys a black cleaver on their champion, how do they interact?

Are the stacks still capped at 6? But we can apply them faster? Can only once champ apply them at a time?

Do we each get 6 stacks so we can shred 60% of an enemy's armor at max stacks? Since the stacks are additive on a single champion, are they additive with multiple champions? With 5 teammates running black cleaver, can we reduce enemies to negative armor? Or would One champ reduce the armor by 30%, and then another reduce what's left by 30%?

Curious how the math works. Anyone know?

Unique Passive - Does not stack.

Not talking about buying two of them. Talking about if two champions each bought one.

The Unique part still matters. Same deal with unique auras.

Right, but I'm curious how quickly the stacks apply. If the two black cleaver teammates are attacking one enemy. Does it take 3 auto attacks to max out the stacks? Or still 6? Or does it go to 12?

Plus some auras stack. The item 3105 aura is shared between two aegis holders. This isn't an aura either so not sure how it works.

It's a debuff so when it hits 6 stacks it stops adding more. Any source with a black cleaver can apply stacks.

Makes sense. Thanks!

The aura from Aegis of the Legion does not stack if two allies have it.

It does actually. Definitely a weird outlier example since most auras dont stack, but the aura from one aegis gives stats to the owner of another aegis. Doesn't stack more than once though. I think it has something to do with how the aura effect is worded.

It doesn't "stack" (how "stack" is normally used). Like you said, if I have it and a teammate has it, we each get the base stats, and the affect of two auras. However, if a third teammate is standing with us, he only gets one aura.

Same with the cleaver. The enemy is basically like that third ally.

This is because auras aren't considered auras on yourself (if you own the item). Same with all auras.

Not trying to argue semantics. Just trying to see how a new item interacts.

And I was using the Aegis aura as an example. It doesn't stack for the third ally (the one without the item) the same way that the black cleaver procs don't stack on the enemy (one that doesn't have the item).

Ah I gotcha. Misread. I think it makes sense now, thanks!

Still a similar case.

I do believe however that, while the maximum stacks does not change, both can apply up until that point, so it is possible to stack faster (just not "more").

This is correct.

That makes sense. I'll test it out tonight to confirm. Thanks!

That sounds like the way Rageblade passive stacks, having mulitple rageblades cause it to stack multiple times per spell/AA, but it still caps at 8 stacks total.

^ Unique passive. Doesn't stack teamwide just like an Aegis doesn't.

Also items with %pen stack multiplicatively (last whisper and cleaver)

So Last Whisper gives 35% to an ADC and then with the 6 stack / 30% from cleaver it becomes 1-(0.65)(0.7) = 54.5% armor pen

Talking about how they work when multiple champions buy the item. Not on the same champ.
