Thoughts to improve Elise

Currently, I feel like Elise doesn't belong anywhere. I played her a lot, after the nerfs, and from what I read from previous posts of her, she was an assassin, mage, and a fighter... No wonder she got nerfed so many times... Now, she's so nerfed that I don't know her role... :/ I really think her idea and concept is really cool, just not the best when applied in-game. She's also pretty hard to play, just not as rewarding as champions like Cassiopeia, Syndra, Yasuo etc. I thought about some ways to get her back in to some shape since she seems pretty desperate considering she's not fitting anywhere past early mid-game phase. (The things I don't mention mean they should stay the same.)

  • Base Health: 510 (+88 per level)
  • Health regen: 2 (+0.25)
  • Mana: 300 (+50)
  • Movement speed: 325
  • Passive: When Elise's spells hit an enemy, she readies a Spider Swarm Spiderling. When she gains a spiderling, the ability won't cost any mana. Per spiderlings, it gives Elise 5/6/7/8 health regen/5 second (depending on Spider form's ability level) and 5 magic penetration when they are present. (Minions will always target Spiderlings before they target Elise) Spiderlings deal: 10/15/20/25 damage + (7% AP)
  • Neurotoxin (Q) -Mana cost: 100 -Base damage: 30/55/80/105/130 -AP ratio: 3.5% AP + 10% of target's current health
  • Venomous Bite (Q) -Base damage: 50/90/130/170/210 -AP ratio: 3% + 8% of target's missing health
  • Volatile Spiderling (W) -Mana cost: 85/90/95/100/105 -Deals DoT damage for 4 seconds -Cooldown: 10/9.5/9/8.5/8 -Magic damage: 25/35/45/55/65 -AP ratio: 20% per second -The damage is amplified by Elise or her spiderling's basic attack by 5% (Up to 8 times)
  • Skittering Frenzy (W) -Cooldown: 12/11.5/11/10.5/10 -Passive: Elise permanenly gains 2/4/6/8/10% lifesteal and spellvamp in both Human and Spider form. -Active: Elise increases the attack speed of Elise and her Spiderlings for 3 seconds. While active, Elise heals 4 (+ 4% AP) health when she or her Spider Swarm spiderlings attack and Spiderlings deal twice the damage.
  • Cocoon (E) -Cooldown: 10 -Mana cost: 30/35/40/45/50 -If it successfully lands on an enemy champion, it reduces their armour and MR by 11/12/13/14/15% for 5 seconds.
  • Spider Form/Human Form -Cooldown: 3 -Elise's spiderform's basic attack deals 40/60/80/100 magic damage on-hit -AP ratio: 60% -However, it deals 50% less damage for each basic attack it hits on the same target (Minimum 17.5%, stacks 3 times) Lasts for 30 seconds/stack. -Elise gains 35 movement speed.

*Elise's late game is absolutely terrible.

  • Thus, I thought that her early game, which is pretty well off, can sacrifice its damage by reducing the base damage of Neurotoxin a lot, but highering the % damage. -Venomous bite's base damage is reduced by 10 magic damage since Elise's spiderlings give Elise magic penetration. -Also, her human form's movement speed is reduced, however her Spider form has increased movement speed so that she's more fragile when she's in her Human form while her Spider form gives her some form of mobility and helps in the jungle to reach the monster camps faster. -Her jungle power, is reduced however because her auto attacks deal less damage subsequently as each basic attack from Elise is performed in Spider form. Hence, I thought that she might need some survivability by increasing Elise's health regen when Spiderlings are present along with the spell vamp and lifesteal from Skittering Frenzy. Due to the fact that Elise's wave clear might be slower, her ganks are even better because her Cocoon now reduces the armour and magic resist of its target by a little. -Elise's top laning phase is also much more different. Elise is much more fragile when she's in her Human form because her Health regen is much lower and her movement speed is slower.
  • This means that she has to constantly switch from Spider form and Human form rather than bullying lanes by Neurotoxin.
  • Also, Neurotoxin has a significantly increased mana cost, along with Volatile Spiderling, this means that Elise cannot spam her abilities and bully her opponent. However, the passive does give Elise a free ability when she gains a Spiderling, encouraging her to play more riskly in spider form.
  • Cocoon's cooldown and mana cost is lowered to simply adjust Elise to the new mana costs and fragility.
  • Volatile spiderling and Skittering Frenzy have reduced cooldowns because she needs a constant source of damage, she is a mage after all and that means a safe poke and a constant output of damage. This means that in teamfights, Elise can safely poke with her Spiderling before joining her team and going full out.
  • In general, Elise's human form is much more fragile, both the movement speed, lowered base mana, lowered base health, lowered health regen, highered mana costs, but more dangerous as the game progresses deeper in time. -She also provides more utility in teamfights when she Cocoons since it lowers the target's defense stats. -Her Spider form is also restraint because her basic attacks deal significantly lower damage as she keeps basic attacking, thus her jungle wave is slower. This means that Elise won't be such a threat to counter jungling as she was before. -However, she gains significantly improved survivability if played correctly (this still means that Elise must have careful positioning!!), a bit more mobility, and can deal the same amount of damage as she did before with her basic attacks in a shorter time giving her the same risk and same reward in a fewer time span, and enjoys the bonus magic penetration because the problem with her building is if she goes full tank, she is still not a true tank and deals no damage and if she is goes somewhat damage, she is too squishy to get in range to do anything. However, this all depletes if her spiderlings die out or she stayed in Spider form for too long, since basic attacks deal very little damage by then, this means that Elise must constantly switch from Spider form to Human form. -The magic penetration given from Cocoon and the Spiderlings gives Elise a smoother game because by the 2nd or 3rd recall from top laners, the opponent usually buys Hexdrinker, and simply from that one item, Elise and any other AP top laners are heavily countered. Also, it should give Elise more flexibility in building. Again, these are my thoughts. Feel free to comment!!
