I think they nerfed it because it was the be all of items. You got it, and not only did you never run out of mana, you also got a fair amount of MR to fight your opponent.

This.

I wish they left it more viable/desirable but it was a little too good all around. Case in point, not all AP mids can justify having 2 mana items.

Why not just remove the MR all together or lower it then?

Kinda think they overnerfed it but, it was pretty damn strong.

Because then people would whine about how there is MR on chalice but not on athenes.

Thats why they touched it

Theres no reason bad players should have unlimited mana just for buying an OP item.

so it works correctly

i dont think you understand mana gating

mana using champs are SUPPOSED TO run out of mana

Yes, and lets have Ziggs and Xerath abuse the ridiculous mana regen where once they got it they can continue to harass and wave clear with out worrying about running out of mana.

Caustic Crusader2 votes

Sounds more to me like the problem was Ziggs and Xerath having absurdly long range abilities on a very short cooldown, theoretically restricted by mana costs but not to a severe enough extent that it actually worked out that way in practice.

They would still need to nerf athene's incredible 20% cdr.

you know what helps your mana? hitting your skillshots.

SexyTaylorSwift3 votes

Actually, and if I am wrong correct me, most champions do not get mana back by hitting their skill shots as opposed to missing them.

Aurelius Maximus1 votes

yea but you will kill your opponent before you go oom. No champs can hit spell after spell without getting something done before going oom.

SexyTaylorSwift2 votes

Still doesn't account for champs with mana problems without skill shots lol...

I'm not saying I agree with OP, just that hitting your skillshots doesn't help with mana for most champs.
