Gonna be trying to make the ideal jg route for Zed, so which should I start with? I'm not sure of the strengths of talisman and machete. When do you use talisman, and when do you use machete first? I would assume the machete for on hit, but talisman might help his early sustain? Thoughts please :)

Hmm, I'm not sure because Zed is kinda half-way between the kind of jungler that likes Machete (AD and therefore auto-based), however he's also a big caster which is good for Talisman. That said, he doesn't use the mana regen from Talisman so that probably makes the difference.
You could try both in a custom to test, but I'd go with Machete I think.
I'd say machete because it gives the lifesteal against monsters. Given that zed gets 0 benefit from the talisman mana regen, and the talisman healing is less than what he'd get from the lifesteal, I think machete all the way.
