Shyvana W nerf

So normally I don't do forum posts. But I thought I would get on to explain how I feel about the Shyvana post. Now I am not a Shyvana main but she has been a go to jungler for me even before the buff patch which dropped in either 6.22 or 6.23. I have always been drawn to Shyvana because of her champion design. I love the whole farm the early game and carry the mid/late game. To me the balancing factor of Shyvana has always been her lack of gank power and her keen ability to be kited. Now before the ghost changes you would run exhaust to help make up for those weaknesses and now you use ghost for the same purpose. Her ability to no be kited is thus tied to a summoner spell. Of course her ult is a gap closer but that does mean that after she ults she won't be kited. So to recap, when you pick Shyvana in the jungle you are sacrificing your ability to gank but in return you can do the jungle camps quickly allowing you to invade when the opposing jungler ganks. Removing the 20% damage to monsters although I knew it would be the likely target for Shyvana nerfs. But I prayed they would never come. I don't see Shyvana as too strong of a champion. She certainly isn't ban worthy. And removing the damage on the w in my opinion forces you to change play style. I welcomed the change to Shyvana's passive as I believe that it was a move towards what Shyvana role as a jungler is. Because of my previously stated opinion I don't have really any suggestions when it comes to other parts of her kit that need to be nerfed. Since I don't believe she does need one. The only other target could be Ws cooldown. Now I know its not an absurd nerf that destroys the champion. But I do think the nerf is taking away from what Shyvana is at her core. So I would like to hear everyone elses opinion. And my obvoius reason for posting this was to get a Rioters attention and find out some context. Well if you read this far thank you and have a nice day. Good luck out there on the Rift Summoners!

I don't think Shyvana needs any nerfs. She is good where she is.

That is my point. Going through the posts I see a lot of people calling for Shyvana nerfs yet her ban rate is really non existent. I just don't think a nerf is necessary.

They should have let the dust settle a little longer before taking action against her. She is still very counter-able. Having strong jungle clear: 1. prevents her from taking heavy damage in her jungle (because her sustain isnt good) and 2. allows her to farm her way to mid game without the similar necessities of other junglers to gank (because she absolutely sucks at it).

While I find these changes minimal and I'm glad they aren't targeting her direct damage, I am curious to see what this does to her clear time. Remember they added the 20% damage buff because she was sucking at clearing without it (and thats really all she does early game).

Yea the whole thing is kinda bothering me as she is good for 1 patch and suddenly they are nerfing her first clear. Also this has profound affects on the jungle clears as doing raptors level 2 will basically kill you as the AOE is needed to kill the smaller raptors. Before you could clear the whole jungle and have lost only 200-250 health with no potions left. (I normally go refillable),

The W nerf vs monsters is probably really good news for lane Shyvana. It could open up buffs for her there since her jg potential isn't holding her back.

I would totally agree with you. I currently am a top main but Shyvana has been my go to jungler. again like I said for the reasons above I enjoy her play-style. And I see this nerfing more her core of champ design rather then nerfing a game play aspect. Obviously it could be argued both ways.

56% winrate "doesn't need nerfs"

this is probably the least offensive nerf they could have given her for how strong she is right now.

I would disagree with you there. Not only can I not find a website that shows your 56% win rate. Most Websites have her at best with a 52-53% win rate. http://na.op.gg/champion/shyvana/statistics/jungle. And although these nerfs are nowhere near offensive. I don't think they are necessary and I don't believe they remain true to her champion design/niche role.

Yes, perhaps shorten the jump of her ultimate?

SignMeUpGriff1 votes

YES What a great approach. Although it would make her less of an engager it would definitely introduce more counter play. I really like this idea. It also preserves her identity as a farm early carry later jungler.

Eh, I'm going to go test how her clear is without the 20% buff is right now on the PBE. Other than that please try to put paragraphs in your post, it makes it less of a hassle for others to read.

Post back here to let me know. Also thanks for the advice. This happens to be my first post on the forums.

Np,

Also so far I see no issue with this nerf, still was at 300 hp when I finished which isn't have bad with red buff still healing me over time too. Full clear without stopping as well.

Still very easily able to solo drag at lvl 4, at 5~ish minutes in.

Edit: btw I "ALWAYS" use hunters talisman as my first item over mechete on Shyvana, the sustain on the multi mob camps are just too good on that too me over the other, I haven't tested the increases life steal buff on mechete yet but I've never had an issue with tailsman.

but it is an absurd nerf and it will put her back to the gutter

SignMeUpGriff1 votes

I don't know about back in the gutter but i think it will hurt her early making it very hard to do that early dragon. I'm not worried about Shyvana's late or mid game. Just early,

i believe vi can take a dragon on 6, shaco too, why shouldn't shyvana then

SignMeUpGriff1 votes

Currently she can after backing once. Considering her passive 10% increase to dragons. I believe it is at Shyvanas core to be a jungle objective based jungler. And her early clears greatly affect how soon she can solo that dragon.

Hopefully this will lead to her W having the 10 base damage per tick at max rank nerf it received last time they opted to give her last time her clear speed was lowered.
