@Riot what're your thoughts on fizz?

I would like to hear a rioter's thoughts on fizz, considering how strong he is atm.

Which build/playstyle? He's pretty flexible, so I'd like to at least make sure we're talking about the same one.

Just the champ in general. His flexibility imo is one of his main problems.

He's fairly strong, but not nearly the strongest champion in any one lane.

Fizz's flexibility allows him to be built in a variety of ways, and that's a good thing.

Gut reaction is that he probably does too much reliable damage even when building tanky, that and maybe his early game isn't proving to be very vulnerable, which I believe it historically has been (outside of like level 2 all-in cheese that he was notorious for).

IMO, his little "Reduced damage from AA's" stops him from being as bullied out of lane from ranged champs as he should be. Being able to abuse him more in the laning phase might make it easier against him.

Edit: Also the Leblanc problem comes in with Fizz. His TrollPole is near undodgable, without mental strats. The same thing was with Leblanc, that was it was too easy too hit/too hard to dodge. Maybe lowering the speed of the descent of his trollpole would allow people to actually avoid it.

I believe it's bruiser fizz that is the biggest problem.

He does way too much damage while building Triforce and maybe one other damage item. Combine that with the fact he still itemizes 40% CDR and maxes E second makes for a pretty antifun time. At least AP Fizz can be stunlocked and bursted down because he has no defensive items (except Zhonya's).

Also notable is the fact he's nearly impossible to gank and still melts squishy champs.

Fizz is easy to gank if hes even or behind, just wait for him to e and gank him, you have 13 seconds or something at lower levels and 7-8 seconds for the rest of them.

The removal of Deathfire Grasp (DFG) and the small changes made to Fizz since v5.2 have been quite alright to my surprise. The nuisance AP fizz once was in the mid lane got balanced out and made him a more of a situation pick instead of the insta-lock/perma ban Monster.

The meta shifted, Tanks/Bruisers got more popular because RIOT did a fine job systematically nerfing assassins into the ground (thank you for that btw) and AD tank fizz found its place in the RIft.

ADC's being noting more than glorified turret pushers, playing more utility based mid laners and junglers all drooling over runeglaive/devourer we are currently stuck in a tank meta with Jungle "i have to hard carry syndrome" with a few champions really being untouchable.

AD tank fizz is one of them. WIth the standard 3 core of Trinity Force, Blade of the Ruined King and Frozen Heart he is the ultimate duelist. It surprises me to that he isn't permanently banned.

Fizz when build as mentioned above practically destroys all the other tanks as soon as he has 1-2 core. With his absurd mobility and the ability to still 100-0 any squishy whilst not being at risk he's beyond strong and so called "toxic af" to play against.

It's one big frustration playing against AD tank fizz. WIth him being able to 1v1 almost any champion, percentage dmg on both the W and his core in BORK, a long range engage tool with his ultimate that provides WAY to much crowd control and 2 gap close/escapes its just all a bit to much.

There is no balance at all when it comes to fizz, he has the best of all worlds when he builds "tank" and has very little to no counterplay or at least not like all the other champions.

If you know this then why havent you guys devised an idea to deal with it.... because everytime you gank his lane he just leaves like nothing happened.

His tank build is really frustrating to face. Red smite top lane Fizz makes me want to scream.

CrazedPorcupine4 votes

The fact that fizz can build literally any item he wants and still deal stupidly large amounts of damage.

Either build is Good. ( I assume you guys don't like tank fizz) Cooldown reduction is the problem with Fizz. His E needs a higher cooldown.

Ad bruiser Fizz is the problematic, while ap is fine. The strenght of Triforce users is usually depends on how fast they can get it and transform the item into an unstoppable snowballing. And Fizz has one of the strongest lvl 6 power spike in the entire game, what is maybe fine in mid, but on top is you want to farm avoid his ultimate is very hard. And this power spike often lead into an early triforce and a win. What i want to see is a lvl 6 nerf, maybe make thew modifier from 20% ro 10%/20%/30% and make to exclude aa, but compensate ap Fizz with a minor damage buff on his q. Incrasing the cd on his e will only unneceserally gut his current ap/cdr build, while don't solve the issue of bruiser Fizz. But before any change we need to wait how 5.16 and the item and juggernaut changes will play out. He maybe will be a bad top laner after the patch.

Ugh don't they all do the same thing? He hops in, kills whatever he wants, and then gets away for free with his low cooldown untargetable mobility skill. Even worse once he has Zhonyas. Seriously the single least fun thing to encounter in solo queue.

The problem with Fiz is that he really doesn't have a weakness. His early game is supposed to be where he is vulnerable, but all you have to do is take flask and pots and he is golden. Once he hits level 3 he can pretty much all in any champion in the game.

His flexibility allows him to counter build any opponent and still put out immense damage. The CD on Playful Trickster is beyond ridiculous. It's probably the most powerful ability in the game and he can use it 3 times in a teamfight.

IMHO he is the champion most in need of nerfs in the whole game.

Bruiser Fizz is the best.

Fizz needs a rework. As an assassin (his intended role) he has a rather odd reliance on AAs/on hits, even his W is wholly devoted to AA amplification. As such his E needs meaningful damage, and a somewhat short cooldown because he MUST kill his target. This presents toxic attributes in either build. Tanky: utilises the on-hit effects to deal strong AA damage, then builds tank to shrug off damn near everything. AP: E becomes the most broken, low risk-high reward ability in the game, dealing huge damage, and offering immense safety. For fizz to be balanced he needs a rework that will streamline ONLY ONE OF THESE ROLES. If he is to be an assassin, he needs a new W and Q needs a small change in order to properly nerf E. If he is to be tanky. Just nerf E with damage and/or cooldown, adapt his ult to maybe give him defence buffs if he lands it or something, and switch his Q and/or W damage type to physical.

His only weakness early game, or at any point at all really, is that he's a melee champion. You can harass him, oh well. But then again, he has 2 gap closers, 1 invulnerability, a knock up, and 2 slows.

Can you at least make his Ult cleansable? I found myself using cleans on a fizz ult, just to have it still poop on me.
