It took a little thought but after a while i realised i had quite a good idea! you could find customisations in chests for your characters, like different coloured hair,hats,boots,legs,arms and weapons, i know it would be difficult since Rito would need to adapt every character within the game towards this idea but it was just a little one of my many ideas! Why would you give RIOT another cash grab idea. Like ward skins, chroma shits and trash like that.
Chromas and skins already accomplish this, honestly a waste of time and very inefficient to do everything individually.

Simple different colored stuff is basically chromas and wouldn't sell much better unless you had the ability to customize them yourself (THATS the chroma I want!)
A better idea is stuff like the mastery emote that can flash over your head or announcer packs.
Way too much effort for low benefit. And you miss a very important part. You have to be able to recognize the champion.
2 players could be premade and customize 2 champions, which have pretty similar body type, to look the same. That would be an advantage for them, since it makes it harder for the enemy to seperate them (especially in team fights). They even keep that in mind if they create legendary or ultimate skins. You always have to be able to tell which champion you are looking at right now.
