Placements are not working at all

Riot you have really fucked up this season with placements. I was gold last season, went 7-3 in my placements and Im silver 5. Look at my fcking match history, in two of my placement wins I had perfect kda, 21-0 and 13-0. Does that sound like a fucking silver 5? The games were no fun for anyone because I was just stomping people. Last season I went 8-2 in placements and got gold 3 and stayed there. You can say just grind up, but Im in school, working and studying for the MCAT this semester. I have no time to grind up all these tiers.

sounds like ur bad. i was demoted 5 divisions, 1 my first s6 promo and climbed 5 divisions. the purpose of the reset is to punish weak players

if you dont want to drop, don play your placements.

They decided to be super hard on everybody with the reset this year.

On the bright side, since I'm sure they placed everyone's league (what you see) real low on purpose your MMR is not as bad as you think, and if you keep playing you'll climb faster with bigger LP gains than you expect.

Everyone will climb up and if you decide to wait you'll find it'll be a breeze later to climb later in the season.

I finished my placements last night. I was plat 3 with ~plat 2-3 mmr, and got placed into plat 5 after going 7-3.

I think the people who are having significant drops simply had a lower mmr than the division they were in, along with the soft reset making it drop even lower.

Based on my play, I do not deserve to be in plat 5, I deserve higher, but I'll have to play more games to offset the result of the MMR soft reset - just like everyone else. Just like you will have to do.

If you have issues, it's with the soft reset itself. Is this a beneficial function? Who knows - maybe, maybe not, but it is they way Riot chooses to introduce new seasons.
