Poll: Are you happy with the addition of plants?

Hadfield·8/7/2017, 9:18:48 AM·23 votes·1,752 views

Just curious to see wether or not people enjoy the addition of plants. In my opinion it feels a bit like the smite buffs from last year and honestly I'm expecting them to be removed. This is just my lousy opinion though, so I want to hear what everyone else thinks.

I'm not a fan of the blast cone, it provides junglers with ways to gank while avoiding the river sight ward coverage in bot

Cocho8/7/2017, 9:24:18 AM16 votes

I was skeptical at first but the interactions they make are both fun and frustrating.

If anything, i'd want blast cone to get tweaked by their location or something. The most frustrating plant imo but im fine with them

Plants are just another snowball mechanic Riot has added to this game. Your lane is pushing? Go grab some honeyfruit while the enemy clears. Just won a fight/enemy just backed off? Go sweep drag/baron pit with scryer's bloom. It's just another thing to let the team in the lead snowball even harder.

Zero Drive8/7/2017, 10:26:31 AM13 votes

I expect them to be removed but they're actually pretty healthy for the game. They give some much needed mobility to immobile champs, allowing for more off meta junglers to find success. They also give already mobile champs stupid levels of mobility to escape situations they shouldn't have been caught in. They bring non-support champs into the ward clearing game, and give laners some options of what to do when they hard shove (grab healing plant for mana/hp, pop blast cone so enemy jungler cant use it, pop vision plant to clear wards for jungle gank).

Still miss my smite buffs and cute wisp warning me when Lee Sin was in my jungle.

I don't really mind them, but I also wouldn't mind if they were removed.

Kyunsei8/7/2017, 10:24:01 AM8 votes

Blast cone are sometimes really frustrating, as you can't always preemptively remove them. I had once an Elise who repel on blast cone over a wall and then used the said blast cone to go other another wall. Without this blast cone she could have gone no-where. Often Blast cone are another tool to make game more snowball-y, as controlling the jungle is rewarded even further with blast cone uses.

Inner Blast cone should be removed, and outer should have a bit more cool-down.

I fuckin hate plants

Euthenaasia8/7/2017, 3:43:13 PM6 votes

I hate plants. I hate that some encounters can be won or lost due to their existence. I hate being in the jungle preparing to leash my jungle and an entire team blast cones over the wall. I personally think that me using a vision plant and literally countering Rengar's ultimate with it is nonsense. Works in my favor but there are some silly mechanics afoot.

DuskDaUmbreon8/7/2017, 2:57:10 PM4 votes

I'm not exactly happy with plants, per se, but I think they're a great improvement over the smite buffs.

Before, smite buffs were kinda...I dunno. Bad, but not in a sucky way, always. Gromp's DoT felt pathetic to me, Raptors was usually instantly shot because the enemy would just drop a ward on it (ergo the sight would be used up on that one ward, rather than anything else). Krugs was helpful enough in early clears (typically leading to me starting it first), but didn't have enough of an impact later on to be worthwhile. Red buff's smite bonus was good, but Blue's felt useless (as you typically recovered the mana in 5-10 seconds after killing it, anyways).

And, of course, you got flamed if you didn't have wolves smited 24/7. Which means you had to always have it smited. Because the vision was irreplaceable (a quarter of the map warded for almost free). But that means that taking red/blue smite was a bit useless, as you were stuck between either dealing more damage or having a ton of vision. And the vision almost always had to win out.

AirKingNeo8/7/2017, 3:47:12 PM3 votes

Not really. They've made junglers pretty overpowered with certain blastcones avoiding wards and the ability to heal and cleanse wards.

FantasySniper8/7/2017, 11:32:14 AM3 votes

Blast Cones and Scryer's Blooms have contributed to the health of the jungle by mitigating mobility creep and vision removal, respectfully.

Honeyfruit, however, remains an inexplicably poor decision. It provides way too much sustain, and because it's extremely accessible on neutral territory, it's become a snowballing mechanic. All you have to do is push the lane and you can get half your health bar back without even trying.

Besides for that, they need to standardize their spawning. RNG has no place in this game.

inplane8/7/2017, 7:02:33 PM2 votes

I like the idea of the Honeyfruit. They're like health packs. Their location could be tweaked to be less accessible to laners though. The Scrying Bloom and Blast Cone though... Eh. They could be removed. Especially Blast Cone. That thing gives so much unwarranted ganking potential that it's frustrating sometimes. I really don't want someone like LeeSin or Gragas to have another way of fucking my ADC and I up with their already ridiculous engage methods.

Targon8/7/2017, 5:21:45 PM2 votes

I like the Honeyfruit. I think the blast cone is a bit tacky though.

Leaf on Bush8/7/2017, 9:16:14 PM2 votes

Well...I don't really care, i got used to them just being there. If they are there I use them, if they get removed I don't mind either. I guess they add a bit more depth to the game if you use them for certain plays or prevent the enemy from using them.

TricolorStar8/7/2017, 9:07:51 PM2 votes

Blast Cones need to capital-G Go. Scryer's Bloom is fine, I think. Honeyfruit is my favorite thing they added in the update

Spice POWAH8/7/2017, 10:30:11 PM2 votes

I like them, they're fun to me.

Critmaster Garen8/7/2017, 11:05:58 AM2 votes

blast comes are fine generally. theyre supposed to remove asymmetry from the map.

for example by giving both teams access to baron and dragon pit from the back side.

also, red side top lnae is much easier to gank than blue side. by adding a blast cone into that position on top lane, you add another path to gank for the red side jungler there, which evens the odds a bit.

the same goes for bot lane.

i also enjoy the fact that they occationally let me make plays on a low mobility champion. suddenly dropping into someones escape path or escaping yourself while at the same time removing easy access over that wall for whoever chases you.

though i dont think interactions like elise being able to rappel on top of blast cones should be allowed.

Chembaron Yamada8/7/2017, 12:44:44 PM2 votes

I really enjoy them. It goes that far that I hope to see a champion in the future, who is utilising the plants in some way in his kit.

Really hope they stay so we can get the herbal alchemist from Zaun. ;D

Tommy PickleNose8/7/2017, 12:53:21 PM2 votes

I expect them to be removed but yeah I miss the smite buffs. I miss the dot gromp buff for adcs it felt more impactful honsestly

hotarse8/7/2017, 2:11:03 PM2 votes

Plants, Catchup XP, Krugs, Gromp spawning after Blue, longer spawn times, less xp, elemental drakes, skuttle krab... all of this I wish didn't exist.

Best Ekko NA8/7/2017, 4:51:42 PM2 votes

I really don't like the plants simply because it's an enabler for things that shouldn't exist, such as scouting the enemy's Jungle without risk or avoiding wards. There's no real method of countering the plants either, as currently there are no tools to remove or disable them from a distance. When they make a Sight stone that has a ranged plant removing active I'll be far more satisfied with their existence.

Sire Hippington8/8/2017, 2:38:37 PM1 votes

I really don't like them, blast cone gives junglers even stronger earlygames as if theri ganking preasure wasn't high enough without it already, the vision thing makes map-controll snowball extra hard, once you got all outer turrets it's basically game over as you bnow controle all vision plants and thus have a massive vision advantage. And the heal thing also mostly favours the side that is in controll, especially for laneing, you shove in a wave, run into river for warding and pick up the free sustain in the way while your opponent sits there and has nothing. It just overall boost the junglers impact aswell as snowballing with rarly adding iteresting situations. Balstcones might be fine if they were positioned differently, but especially the one near bluebuff just allows for easy gank paths.

TwitchInMyPants8/7/2017, 3:46:47 PM1 votes

Honestly I haven't heard any complaints about plants since pre-season. The fruit slows you, spawns slowest, and is split into 5 parts so the heal is very delayed. Blast cone is predictable so high mobility characters have a chance to position on a side of its that is optimal, though when fights start on blast cone it usually results in people getting shot in weird directions and people tend to hate that. The scyer's bloom is probably the fairest one since they're viable to steal at all times and are a way of scouting for wards without burning trinket.

I voted yes but I neither love nor hate them. They're an ok addition that has surprisingly minor impact on the game. A couple more kills are prevented then usual, a couple more wards are killed than usual and that's about it. Though crazy idea - what if there was a plant that you kill and after x amount of seconds it places a visible, invulnerable ward that lasts 30s? Kind of like a blue trinket ward with a fixed duration and you can't kill it. Since people complain about a lack of wards and one of the plants is anti-ward, a warding plant seems like it'd be an interesting thing to have on the map.

blast cone is annoying and the aiming can be really off sometimes

Knoyle8/7/2017, 5:52:09 PM1 votes

I personally don't like them. While they can be useful they sometimes feel like too much icing on a cake. I'm not all against them but I wouldn't mind them being replaced.

Chaos Milk Tea8/7/2017, 6:30:03 PM1 votes

Just the vision plant.

Jeddy0178/7/2017, 7:27:49 PM1 votes

When they were 1st added, they didn't really change anything for me. They're just...there. And several months later, I still feel the same about the plants.

I have made use of them plenty of times. My teammates did & so do my opponents. So it's not like everyone ignore them. There have been some great plant moments & some horrible ones. But at the end of the day, they're still just....there. They don't affect my League experience positively or negatively. I don't hop onto League thinking," I sure do hope I get to have some fun with the great plants today," or "Man, fuck these plant. Why did Riot add this shit? It's ruining my games." I'm just like," Oh hey look. A plant," and pop them if I can to use it or ignore it if I don't.

I remember last preseason when everyone learned about plants & there was a massive fucking uproar. People were worried that this RNGesus plants system would completely ruin the game & turn everything we know about League on it's head & blah blah bla. And instead.....they're just there.

It's at the point where I won't even care if the get rid of plants.....Okay, maybe the vision plant I'll be a bit sad about. And that's only because I'm have the heart of a support player & have too much of a hard on for vision. Even then, they could just add something to replace that plant. But overall, I don't care if they stay or go.

Please note: This is based on MY OWN EXPERIENCE with the plants. I'm sure other players would have different opinions on Plants, especially Junglers. I'll admit, I barely jungled in the last year & I've never been a Jungle player. I'm sure Junglers will have more informed opinions on plants since they can make use of them on a more regular basis.

ForeverLaxx8/8/2017, 6:19:03 AM1 votes

I've never liked the plants, but then I always hated how Riot insists on trying to rework the entire jungle every season since I used to be a jungle main way back in the day.

Just another reason to spam Aram games until the game mode is removed.
