Tryndamere mechanics question

So with Trynd's E having the 100% ap ratio as well as AD

  1. if you were to have any AP built, is the damage it deals still translated as AD?
  2. If it is translated to AD output from AP, does that mean armor pen would be effective for the E's damage against champions?
  3. If it is AP output, would magic pen increase it's damage against champions? Thank you.

There is no such thing as "AP/AD damage".

Just Physical and Magical damage (and True damage, but that is quite rare).

You have to look at the type of damage the ability deals, not what it scales with.

In this case, Trynd's spin deals Physical damage.

You can tell what type of damage the ability does and what it scales off of by looking at its description. His E, for example, deals physical damage. It will always do only physical damage regardless of whether you are going AP, AD, both or none at all. The orange text is what the ability is getting from your AD and the green is what it's getting from your AP. While it does make sense that AP typically goes with dealing magic damage, it's not a requirement, same for AD with physical damage.

Most champions only scale with AD and AP, but some have abilities which scale with other stats such as Armor, Mana, or Crit, and these are denoted by different colors.
