All I know is riven

Has anyone else noticed that there are more and more riven players? There were a lot before but it seems as though I cant go two games without seeing one in the top lane, be it on the enemy team or mine. This isn't a "riven op, pls nerf" but a why has she suddenly increased in popularity so much? I would guess the new skin release but even then maybe only 1/3 rivens I see even have the skin. But then again maybe im just getting weird odds of playing with rivens a lot. As most people know riven is a frustration champion to deal with so seeing her all the time takes a lot away from the game for me.
