People play on macs? can't blame riot for that

PSA: PBE and live are actually entirely different builds and not just live a patch ahead.

Theyre essentially two different games, which is why HUGE bugs simply dont happen on the PBE.

'can drop whole games'

what? The mac one is probably due to his model moreso then anything else.

Shuyin1782 votes

There was some kind of bug that was breaking matches, I believe it had something to do with his ult but I also think it had something to do with Morde being in his matches too.

no there was a live bug where morde ult would drop the game if it killed ornn

TheLastShadow454 votes

They fixed that already.

Does it give them an excuse to let it into live?

It's kind of unfair to grill Riot for something they didn't intentionally do. Bugs don't always show up during testing, you know.

You misunderstand how bugs come up. When Riot adds in new data, be it numbers, skins, or events, they're adding in things to the code of the game. Bugs appear normally due to a conflict of new and old data. When you patch the content from PBE into Live, you have old content being introduced with new content.

Because of that, Bugs can appear that weren't on PBE at all. It's why they have a 3 day period for accepting new things into PBE, because they need enough time to not let any known bugs in PBE move into the Live as well. However, that doesn't mean they can catch them all, or all bugs were ever on PBE.

So unless you can show me a source of Mordekaisers or Mac users on PBE crashing due to Orrn, I'm prime to believe that the bug was introduced when the patch hit live.

Aazzlano2 votes

well, i have to disagree on one part of this... they very often have bugs reported on PBE en masse and they still let them go to live, somehow. it's happened more than a couple of times

ModAcademy Kayn1 votes

If that's the case, perhaps the fix wasn't found in time.

Aazzlano2 votes

"in time" There's a lot of gamebreaking stuff that has made it to live that has been posted on PBE/Reddit with hundreds of upvotes an they still release it. If they are not aware, they should pay attention. if they are, they have no business releasing broken content

ModAcademy Kayn1 votes

Source and/or examples? And once again, it's not easy just fixing a bug. They get awfully complicated. Even then, bugs don't always translate in Live from PBE either, they're two completely different builds.

It's not like they update PBE to live status, they're completely different. When they fix bugs on PBE, it's because there's a bug on PBE.

Aazzlano1 votes

half or more of the azir things were caught on PBE way before releasing to live

if you pay attention to pbe you will see most of the broken stuff was already reported and it was never fixed, then shipped to live

Elikain1 votes

And Azir was also disabled and being fixed, throughout multiple patches. The fact that you believe that Riot should just delay their content for an entire year until there's 0% probability for bugs to appear, is just you not understanding what are bugs and how they creep up. Riot would've never released a champion if it was not functional and that they had to constantly disable them or keep them disabled for weeks until everything was sorted out.

The bugs Azir had were all related to him being fixed, which then made new bugs appear.

Elikain1 votes

No, there aren't. Because all the gamebreaking stuff is Riot's top priority in fixing and that depends on how easy it is to reproduce a bug and what kind of interactions does it have. In case you forgot, Riot has disabled champions and skins to fix major issues that could be exploited so don't come here and talk like Riot never did give a damn about actually fixing their game.

If you want every bug report to instantly have a Rioter ready to respond the moment it's posted, you're out of luck because that's not how things work anywhere. They track all these threads on various different places and then they fix them according to the priority list or when they have the time in between.

If you actually read the patch notes, at the very end of champion/item changes, there's a list of bugs that were identified and fixed for that patch. And in almost all patch notes, there's the same section in the bottom.

They never played a game with a mordekaiser or with a mac? Seems like basic testing to test all fixed variables before releasing anything.

Personal note: My dad is a VP at a major bank and specializes in IT. Currently they're upgrading systems to windows 10, they've been testing for almost a year to make sure to make sure it works on all systems, making sure everything is stable, BEFORE they release it.

Game development is obviously a different thing, but it's same conceptually for testing and releasing. For christ's sake, how did it get past PBE? Clearly wasn't on PBE long enough to find MAJOR shit like a whole OS not working on it and a champion can drop a game. These arent like tiny bugs, these are fucking gamebreaking.

Riot is such a braindead company it's insane how incompetent they are in so many departments. They have as many players as they do because the game itself is good, or atleast was. It's a simplified copy-cat of a different top-selling game. PUBG vs H1Z1 vs ARMA 3 Battle Royale, exact same thing.

Nobody gives a shit about morde except Malicious Metal and his fanboys, almost nobody plays him and people only join the pbe to test a skin or to play the new champion, almost nobody goes there to actually help riot.

Catastrop3 votes

Listen here m9, they're called bugs for a reason. They don't always show up and sometimes only occur after the product has been shipped to live. In comparison to many other games, Riot does a good job of catching bugs in time for their releases to hit live. Obviously they're not going to catch everything, but that's literally how it is. There is never a time when they can get ALL bugs regardless of severity on the test servers because newsflash it's up to the player base to actually report about them. And the playerbase is hot garbage when it comes to this, it's much better to just ship it to live and take care of bugs as they pop because it's far easier to monitor on live.

An example of this months back when Hi-Rez let the Morrigan loose on the live severs in Smite. Simply having her in game caused so many crashes, spaghetti interactions and downright game breaking phenomena that you'd be baffled at how she got past the test servers. The reason why? Literally all the game bugs that showed didn't appear on the test servers or weren't reported by the player base.

So please, instead of coming on here and spewing nonsense about this and that because x game did y, I think you should spend some time actually looking into how bugs can manifest.

Tommy PickleNose2 votes

I don't think you understand just how hard it is to test every single variable and every single angle of stuff like that. Each patch you see minor stuff fixed all of the time because stuff just comes up all the time or go undiscovered for so long.

3TWarrior1 votes

actually, a lot of it doesn't have to do with testing but instead because someone alters something in code elsewhere that they forgot to document

this change then has unknowable consequences when it is shipped to a code that does not allow for change (live) because there was some dependency between the PBE and the change

you then have errors that are just messups

It's kind of unfair to grill Riot for something they didn't intentionally do.

I can hardly imagine an intentional bug being released either, so who else are we to grill?

Time to fix that PBE signup page, and let the rest of us have a go too.

It was one of the things never tested because no one really plays morde. We can't find every single bug about new content on the PBE and more bugs appear when things go live(just like literally every other video game).

I have been playing Ornn for a while and he seems very weak. Yes i know he is team fight based but his q is to slow to ever get a knock up. The best plays i had as him were jg since its all enclosed and ez to land it if someone comes. His ult is great no question there but the w q e follow up is not as good. Brittle is a good effect but ornn cant do damage and even if you run ad runes and grab ad items instead of tank its kinda crap. Ornn needs a buff. If you ask me this is what he needs:

1.) Q pillar grows faster 2.) W is bigger or let him turn as he does it like rumble 3.) E is kinda good but make it a bit longer range 4.) R please allow ornn to get some kinda sheild if he hits the ram. Usually by the time you hit it they are already trying to kill you and you die. 5.) He lacks any real speed so his cc is kinda pointless when other champs can just dash away and no his E cant catch up and grabbing items to buff speed is not always a good idea if they have high ap or ad since you wanna go tank.

This is stuff i think ornn needs and with a Win rate likes Ryze that shit he needs a buff.

Faie1 votes

By the way, his Q doesn't knock up. The only CC it has is the slow from its damage.

EDIT: nevermind, I see my reading comprehension skills are dead today.

You're right though? Ornns Q doesn't knock up targets

also gave huge lag spikes every time he forged something (fixed iirc)

Zedex1 votes

Yeah, my opinion is that he was barely play tested by players. I'm assuming he couldn't have been, his balance was even pretty poor upon release.

He felt rushed off the PBE for some reason, and obviously there wasn't enough play data being generated against various match ups to encounter half these bugs.

Honestly though, stuff like this doesn't usually happen with the new champions. Bugs happen, and ones like this rarely happen, so I think we should cut Riot some slack.

PaladinNO1 votes

Oodles of noodles.

What else is new?

Drugoth1 votes

In the few experiences I've had with him so far, he's a lane bully for sure. I played Ornn vs Nasus and he couldn't farm his Q at all until I left lane. Every time I would see him going for a low minion, I just Q > W > Auto > E. If you perform it correctly and land everything it does a devastating amount of damage to the enemy.

Meep Man1 votes

Mac is a little bit stupid. But I haven't experienced him drop a game yet. Only the Morde bug really, but that got fixed quick.

Proof that PBE is just for skin/champ advertise. As i said countless times
