Movement speed stat has lost its usefulness, and it's ruining my experience.
Before I start ranting, I'd like to apologize for any language-related errors in this post, as I'm not an English native.
If you're like me, your first instinct after being outrunned by the entire enemy team is buying movespeed items. This, however, almost never help; they'll still outrun you, even if you have 50-100 more ms than them. Why is this? Because almost every champion in the game either has a slow that is easy to hit (ashe, gnar, you name it) a slow extremely potent, sometimes even breaching the slow cap, so buying movespeed ends up in running at the same speed, or an offensive dash or other movement ability that makes movespeed virtually useless. The latest champion also got a slow/dash in her w. Actually, it has been a trend in the latest champions to almost always have a dash. Let's take a look at all champions since 2016;
Jhin - potent movespeed slow (r) and buff (p) Aurelion Sol - potent slow (r), other (e) Taliyah - slow (e), other (r), buff (p) Kled - potent slow (q), dash (e), other (r) Ivern - dash (q), potent slow (e) Camille - dash (e), potent slow (w) Xayah - none Rakan - dash (w), dash (e). buff (r) Kayn and Rhaast - dash (q), slow (w), buff (e), other (r), dash (r) Ornn - potent slow (q), dash (e), potent slow (r), dash (r)
this list does not include slows caused by other cc effects (charm, fear), nor does it include reworks from the same time. Potent slow refers to any slow >50%
You can see how playing champions without dashes or ridiculus movement spells it is impossible to escape or even stay at range. In most cases this doesn't even translate to mroe damage, as most champions without movement abilities are ranged.
I think it's unhealthy for League of Legends to make movement speed a useless or even overlooked stat, as it pushes a very solid and in my opinion somewhat stale meta. Of course the uselesness of movement speed is not the only contributor to a less fluid meta, but it is one that has a very direct unfun impact on games.
just to be at any semi = game play where they don't get to dictate everything because of their mobility / anti mobility
