What supps should buy athene grail ?

It's not a good support item

basically only nami and karma use it, but still its only situational. I hate that they changed it from a really good midlane magic resist and mana regen item to a meh support item.

Nami for sure, Sona if you want a more mage build, and Lux if you want a more supportive build.

Its great on sona

sona, nami, lulu, karma, and even janna/raka can make a use of it

but statwise it's kinda weird

athene's is situational but can be very strong on bursty/pokey mages with shields

my top picks are karma (in either support or mid) and orianna (mid mainly). both options are for when youre facing a lot of ap burst, and find yourself being relied on by your team a lot.

AP carries who happen to have a shield, but those tend to go glass cannon AP anyway.

I built Athenes on champs such as Sona, Nami, Karma, Lulu and Orianna. Yeah, you read that right, Im a support Orianna main who builds support, no AP.

It comes in handy vs AP supports because of the MR we get and helps surviving the poke/sustain lanes, the item is underrated but also weak. I miss the 20%CDR of this item it had be4 it got nerfed!

Ppl may not remember but Athene's had a 20% cooldown reduction just like Morelos, it was on of its highest seeling points for me! Not anymore. That 20% cdr would be awesome now with the rune Transcendence.
