Bad Support Choices

I've been noticing this trend lately in the bot lane. Normal ADC pick, your average run of who's popular/powerful and the like, but then we have the support choose a champion like Leblanc or Syndra. I've even seen a Swain support. Now I'm fully aware of off-meta picks. I'm a big fan of them. Seeing a champion performing well in a role not previously thought viable is great. Really diverse gameplay, and everybody loves variety. In addition to seeing these bursty mages in the support role, but they also build full ap. They don't even try to build support. And I've seen support champions building full ap. Lux and Morgana are probably the worst offenders, but dammit I've even seen Soraka go full ap.

This is a problem most of the time. The only time I've seen this work is when the Support and ADC are in full communication and know exactly what they're doing, or when the enemy team is just garbage and feeds my bot lane due to poor choices. I don't report a support for having kills, I've been in the bot lane plenty, and I know that you can't always let your adc get the kill. But denying your adc creep and kills on the basis of "Oh I wanted to try something new." or "Its off meta just roll with it!" is going to net you a report from me.

I don't mind trying new things, so long as you're up front and clear about your intentions. Maybe let the adc know they're not going to get to play the roll they wanted? Is that so hard?

Also, don't be a dick if your adc wants you to play a traditional support, or at least build fucking support items. I don't want to play a kill lane, I want to be the carry. Seriously. If I wanted to do anything else I would not have queued bot.

This happens all the time with LeeSin or Kennen support. I fucking hate it so much.

well sorry but if Riot isn't going to actually give me actual AP support items and i want to build AP then i will go towards the non support items since they are the only ones that give me AP. Specially if you are one of the few AP supports that heals/shields are not part of your kit making item 3504 be worthless or champions in which your heal/shield are not even maxed first or second.

Only truly support item i will ever build when i am support is item 2049 or one of it's variants after that is whatever i feel like buying, whether is full AP or heavy utility or some weird combination

I'm going to level with you because this seems to be a pretty common thread to pop up.

If I'm stuck playing support and I don't feel like playing a tank, which is 90% of the time, I'm going to play Zyra Brand Zilean and I'm going to build damage. I'll give you a sightstone, but if we're not behind, I'm going damage first and the sightstone will come a bit later.

Honestly it's just my play style as support, I play to run over my lane and grind them into the dirt so hard they're irrelevant until the 20 minute mark at least. Last time I played Zyra support I shut down the lane so hard their ADC still only had one item, and 70 CS at the 26 minute mark when they surrendered.

You need to tell your support that you'd rather farm in champion select, and maybe they'll adapt to you a little better. If you don't say anything, I'm going to come into the game ready to go extremely aggressive and push them out quickly to start denying and building an advantage.

Look they all can work as supp. The major issue is what they bring to the team mid and late game which is the problem.

I am okay with random supps really i am, the real issue i have is if they don't pick a supp item up first, they lose so much gold and rely on leeching my CS or forcefully taking the kills.

The other way i am okay with weird supps is if the supp and adc are together, and know how to do the combo they are after. Otherwise you are just fucking over a poor random ADC player.

Someone that gets autofilled as support should be able to play whoever they want. If you're going to bitch about it, play support next game and play your traditional support. Being a dick and harassing someone who does an off meta pick will get you a report from me.

i will agree about at least buying support items for the beginning for the gold income and playing as a support and not a mid in bot lane

The farthest off meta support I've picked is Fiddlesticks Kled Veigar (if that counts as off meta) and Taliyah
