If we get this, we should get a loss prevented

I think Riot can sort this out idk, but it can be a serious problem, especially because it happens very randomly and unexpectedly.

There's a couple of different reasons that error message can pop up, be if connection problems with the network at your house, along the way to our servers, or even at the server. Most are easily fixed by a simple log in/out of the client, if that doesn't, then it's usually something wrong with the settings for your network config.

Sometimes it's a flush of the DNS, or a release/renew, it could be wireless signal loss or a router failing to assign between multiple computers on the same network, which may require a restart of the modem or router...

Running as admin can be a solution if your computer wasn't set up to let all programs run through whatever firewalls you have, AVG or McAfee, sometimes Windows Defender is running and the player has no idea about it.

It's not super simple with that error to know exactly where the problem lies, because of the many different things that can interfere as champion selection ends and you are loading into Summoner's Rift.

tl;dr

Most players never see that error message unless something is wrong with the localized connection near their computer. A simple restart of the client can fix it, but if not, they may want to dig into their network setup to see if there's something iffy there.

Restarting your computer is often the easiest fix.

This has been a 100% fix for me:

  1. Close League COMPLETELY
  2. Open up Command Prompt
  3. type "ipconfig /release"
  4. type "ipconfig /renew"
  5. type "ipconfig /flushdns"
  6. Reopen League

try setting your league launcher to "Run as administrator", I used to get this alot (along with other connection problems) and I think what fixed it was this.

I would say anything out of the control of the player should automatically be a loss prevented! This isn't something that can be abused as far as I know. So people can't manipulate the system into always having a problem like this happen. But I have only had this happen to me once and it sucks when you can't get back into the game despite having no problems!

Yea but then people would get to promos and start pulling their ether cables everytime they started to lose, or they could just disable whatever port that league runs to upload, I thnk that would give the same error but I cant test that theory at the moment

This happens almost always at the beginning before you even get into game. Very rarely does it happen after. It would have to be only available before matches.

I really don't like having excuses anyway regardless of why unless its completely Riots fault.

just restart the client and problem is solved for me :) And to be really honest comon this happens maybe 1 out of 50 games.

  1. That 1 loss won't define your tier
  2. You can fix this problem within 5 a 10 minits. I've seen tons of games where somebody goes afk for 5 or 10 minits and still won.

restarting wont cut it

he needs to shut the process down completly and then restart the client

still he should get a loss prevented for coming to lane 3 mins in the game

i've reconnected sometimes, and won, while still being marked as leaving. Even though restarting it does resolve it, it still has a chance to happen in the future. Like i could be fine one game, then all of a sudden my firewall just decides to block it for some dumb reason. It's just pure randomness :/

Have you tried this?

If following that doesn't work, send in a H&S ticket. They are happy to help sort these things out (Just don't complain about Leaver Buster or lost LP because they don't often respond or send the default "Sorry, not changing it" response).

Riot's servers don't magically know why your client stopped talking to them. Maybe the client crashed. Maybe your ISP throttled your network traffic. Maybe you deliberately disabled your wireless connection so it couldn't connect. All the servers know is that the client was sending messages and now it is not. Similarly, the client doesn't know why it can't talk to the server.

Also, in cases where the client knows it crashed (by keeping crash logs for example) it still can't be trusted to report those errors to the server. One of the first rules of computer security is "never trust the client." Maybe the client crashed, or maybe a determined hacker reverse-engineered the log format, hit End Process, and inserted fake log entries for an error that never occurred. If an adversary has physical access to the hardware your software is running on (for example, LoL hackers running the game on their own computer), there isn't really much you can do to stop them from monkeying with it. Trusting the client to report errors introduces trivial Loss Prevention hacks.

Most of the time, that's not their fault; it's your computer or internet. If you started a game of league, and shut off your wifi, you'd see a similar message.

No they won't do loss prevented because they don't know why your computer suddenly stopped contacting the server.

ive gotten it twice and i easily got back in by just logging out of league then logging back in and reconnecting
