Why is everyone ok with runeglaive/smite Ezreal and Nidalee?

I watched a video via the client and the devs were basically saying that they were ok with this being a thing in the game. I've also been watching high elo games and in nearly every single on there is either an Ezreal, a Nidalee, or both. I don't understand why people are ok with this? AP Ezreal had plenty of AoE burst to begin with, and Nidalee had her mega death spears. I don't like the idea of them also having auto attacks that also hurt, but everyone seems to be ok with it.

Can someone educate me on why I am not seeing the benefit to the game of this?

Well, right now there's apparently a nerf on PBE that only applies the AOE damage against monsters (so it won't help you waveclear in lane or give Ez quite so much extra AOE in teamfights). So they're at least thinking about changing it.

The Developers are okay with smite being taken on laners IF they are using it for jungle control.

Riot is not okay with smite being taken on laners if they decide to use it for getting OP jungle items.

laning nidalee is much better taking lich bane. getting runglaive on nid is almost the same as grabbing lich bane first except slightly worse.. plus u dont grab lich bane first on nid... like ever... plus it means u lose a summoner spell for smite. and nid with lich bane is amazing with teleport doing split pushes.

overall it might be an issue with ezreal mid .. and its certainly amazing on jungle nidalee, much more so than maguc was... but you wont see laning nid take it. and that if you see any laning nid at all anymore. seeing as jungle is almost twice as good as laning nid is.

A) both of those champions would normally build Lichbane and get auto attacks that hurt anyway. B) The main strengths Runeglaive had (AoE Lichbane and Spell effects on an on hit) have been nerfed or are going to be.

So while Ezreal/Nidalee might still build Runeglaive, it would likely only be because they are going jungle instead of mid.

I don't know why people are complaining Ezreal mid will die off like any other flavor of the month pick, Nidalee is always going to be retarded anyway.

Why ruin the item for the champions who use it well, when the ones "abusing" it aren't even really abusing it.

AP Ez is getting nerfs next patch so maybe that's why people start to accept him. About Nidalee, not a lot about her changed: she had a lot of damage before Runeglaive, so the buff she got with Runeglaive wasn't so noticeable like with Ez AP (whose popularity skyrocketed).

its alot cheaper to get compared to lich bane so you get your power spike earlier and also with trailblazer you can easily always clear jg camps easy and get mana and health back also it gives you alot of waveclear which ez and nid do not have. ez an always q the raptors camp to get mana back while in lane which is always good
