SR just isn't appealing to me anymore.

I'll admit it, I began this game playing primarily only 3v3's. But, like most players I eventually shifted to SR in Season 2 and had a blast. Season 3 only made things better. I LOVED it. I never really played ranked much but I enjoyed playing Draft, Blind, and eventually Team Builder. I just found everyone much more willing to work together and never give up.

But since mid season 4 I have found myself really only enjoying ARAM, for a multitude of reasons. I find that SR everyone either thinks that they will be the....and I hate to use this...Doublelift of the team. On top of that, I have noticed that everyone, even enemies, will critique what you're doing.....even if you're doing much better than they are. I don't know if there was a huge player base shift or something, but it seems like the general player base has just gotten worse. I see people doing silly things that they never used to do. Partly, I blame LCS. Everyone wants to play the "new hottest trend" and they think that they're going to immediately be 20/0 just because they saw some professional player doing it. Lastly, and this is the main offender, I see people surrendering FAR too early. If we're 25 min into the game and only a turret or 2 behind, why would we surrender? ESPECIALLY if we haven't had a proper team fight. I could understand if we had 3-4 major team fights and lost them all one-sided. But even if they are close there is no reason to give up.

The only place where I find that people will continue trying despite overwhelming odds is, you guessed it, ARAM.

I would really love to get back into SR, but I just can't get behind these dragon buffs. I loathe them really. I understand it doesn't give a team gold bonus anymore, but to me, a damage or movement speed buff is far more threatening to the later out come of a game than a 1k gold boost could have ever done. In fact, I hardly see anyone put any huge emphasis on baron anymore.

Anyway, all this aside, my only point was to express sadness that I am finding myself drift away from a very fun game mode and to see myself shifting to a mode that no one takes seriously because there is no ranked form of it. I hope things change, I really do.

I hope some of you agree with me. If you've read this far, I wish you luck on the Rift, Abyss (or Bridge), Treeline, or Crystal scar.

That's weird. I quit SR in S2, when players started taking it way too seriously, which caused extreme metawhoring, excessive passivity in lane and almost 100% chance of premature surrenders in every match. Like everybody just wants to give up if they aren't clearly snowballing (so whichever team that is slightly behind at the 20 minute mark surrenders, or sometimes even if a team is ahead they'll surrender after losing a teamfight or something stupid).

I always thought laning was boring, but I could tolerate it if players were more willing to play out games. Surrenders are fucking dumb, and losing winnable games all day because the team is 2 kills and 1 tower behind and decides that's a good reason to quit is fucking bullshit.

i still enjoy summoners rift and i havent been playing long enough to have remember the dragon when it was giving global gold, i remember it a bit but i was a much worse player then, since i started mid season 4. I agree with basically all your points. My only difference of opinion is that SR isnt enjoyable anymore when i feel that it still really is fun, it really is only the multitude of toxic and trolling characters. Also i do hate the "they did this in LCS, imma be op" mentality. if youre doing something just cus of lcs youre not playing the game youre just copying others. everything i do, i get from experimentation or long periods. my builds for Garen Gragas Ashe Jax Rengar Karthus all change the more i play and i go with builds i find more useful to my playstyle. i like your idea of having fun on the game afterall it is a game and thats really the whole point. anyways sorry i talk too much my whole point is the game at all its facets should be fun regardless of ranked unranked or map and mode just have fun and ignore the trolls and "experts" its a game enjoy it

I will say this as someone who plays mostly SR, but also does TT, HA (or BB <3), and CS, SR is the only really toxic map.

I don't see premature surrenders in Dominion (and i don't see bots either, maybe my MMR is too high for them show up).

I don't see then on TT, though those games can get more one-sided than SR can ever be, simply because the wrong person fed can 1v3, but can almost never 1v5.

I Never see them in ARAM, as they can almost never be decided early, and there is always the potential to win a game later with a great comeback.

That said, I don't play ranked, so people don't play SR too seriously, and are usually willing to keep going. The trick is to be inspiring. If people see their whole team is "losing", even if the margins are incredibly slim, they think they as a whole have no one in a position to win, as Stupid Queue always thinks it's a single person that wins, and they need someone ahead to win. So playing someone you're confident and comfortable on is a really good plan. If you're comfortable and willing to do things, people will pick up on things. If everyone is despairing, then yeah, they will give up. Be a leader, and they will follow.

That said, being fed is even better, especially when you're comfortable enough to abuse your leads.

My Main: RekSai Top wins many lanes, and applies so much pressure that people realize they have someone controlling the map, and they have a lax in pressure on their balls, because I have loads on mine (and demonstrating that you can get out of bad situations, or turn them around also inspires).

Once again, lead and people will follow. Just make sure you're capable of leading.

  1. Disable All-Chat.
  2. Play 5-man Premades.

I play a lot of Solo Q, but I can only take so much. Otherwise I just play for fun and to learn, or I play Ranked Teams.
