Why is Blitzcrank's silence on his ult so short?

I mean, it's an ultimate. I looked at all the other champions with silence, and all of their abilities that silence have a duration of over 1.25 seconds. Meanwhile, Blitzcrank's ult only silences for a measly .5 seconds.....on an ultimate. I understand that he has to land a Q for the most part before he does his silence....but he is basically the only champion in the game with a silence that has to combo it with another ability (we're talking about if he isn't already in the midst of the team).

But still...his damage isn't true or anything so it can be mitigated by MR, I just don't understand why it has such a short silence duration. I shouldn't Q+ult a kennen, only to have him immediately ult LITERALLY A SPLIT SECOND after I ult him.

It just doesn't make sense. His kit is about getting people to you, and making sure they don't get away.

Would it be too much to ask for a scaling silence on his ult based of ult skill rank?

His Ult is extremely powerful, and being instant, short CD, having a damage component, and a large AoE on top of having two other CC's to supplement it lends to that fact. You only need a split second to prevent someone from using Flash after you pull them in so you can knock them up for a considerable total of CC time as your carry destroys them.

Tagging along to Valkyrie, the ultimate functions fairly well as a short cooldown channel interrupt when you can't grab because of minions and need a quick way to interrupt without walking up to someone/flashing.

because if you are silenced any longer a blitzcrank pull becomes an almost 100% kill chance, with no ability to flash or skill out. already cant do shit while being pulled, then get knocked up, then 1.5 secs witout flash..... as a blitz main who wishes it was longer, i understand that balancing is at play here.

it would be too powerful to have a screen wide aoe damage plus extended silence. he's already got more cc than the next 3 characters. it's meant to be used as an interrupt, to stop fiddles before he can ult, or katarina during her ult, or urgot , ww, or malz during their suppressions, for example. it can be used offesively, but it's best used defensively, to stop that enemy from using that certain ability without having to walk the distance over to 'e' uppercut them.

It also has practically no cooldown.

Because his power in lane with it is already huge and he has ridiculous power late game to make picks out of anything

Hard counters Katarina ult with its fast cast time. Kat ults into your team just ult immediately and she will barely get any damage off.

I never considered the short CD on his ult. Even so, it is a little disheartening to use your ult in the hopes of preventing someone from ulting, only to have them use it immediately afterwards anyway.

well...you can chain it to 2 other cc from that. who cares?
