Duoing is a complete joke for matchmaking. Its a massive distortion of the ranked "SOLO Queue" system and incredibly imbalanced if they are actually trying (prepared strategies, voice coms, role synergies like duo bot, champion synergies etc.) Duo abuse should at the very least stop in Diamond. At least make the top level of the ladder a proper representation of individual skill.
It's even worse there because people aren't just duoing for fun but because they can do better than alone if they have the right friends. And again, should our rank be determined by who we're friends with? Not to mention that this strategy is even more abusive because of smurfs. For example, some Masters player will duo with his other Masters friend but he will be on a low Diamond account and thus the match making MMR penalty is essentially ignored. It's just complete BS from the point of view of ranked integrity. I will never respect someone's rank if they got it by duoing. Your max rank solo is the only one that you can claim as your own.
As far as MMR this season. It is indeed strange. I went 10-0 on a new account and got placed Bronze 4. In a way, it's a deterrent to smurf because you have to put up with low quality games for longer before you reach the appropriate MMR. Being able to report really bad match making may help them fix the system.
