Cheating the mmr system in order to give yourself an easier matchup while putting your opponent at a significant disadvantage before the game even starts.

I got clapped by a smurf so I’m going to make a horrible analogy about smurfs and cheating

While I understand you, I also own like 8 smurfs acc, for simple reason. Learning. You could say, go and learn in normal/flex, but I have to disagree, you will never have the same experience from those as from ranked.

Do I want to learn new champ, like really learn, not just try, I'll go to my smurf and make sure I can beat silver-gold players, before taking it in dia. I'm terrible jng and I'm avoiding this role on my main, dodging/swapping, so I have one jngler acc. If I want to try new strategy with my main champ, I'll go to smurf acc. And so on.

I know there are tons of these ego boosting smurfs, but I have different reasons for smurfing. Idk if it is better tho.

I agree. Facing a master level player in a gold game so i get rofl stomped makes me want to punt a baby and not play the game anymore

Smurfing is POISON for ranked matchmaking and making especialy lower elo players frustrated, which can result in dropping a game. Not only you make unfair disadvantage to opponents, but most importantly you are effectively boosting your teammates (Which is punishable in party btw.) It should not matter if you are in party or not. A low elo players could and will get win streaks by luck of playing with smurfs, that boost this player MMR a will be placed in rank where he does not belong and naturally he will loose a lot of games since he could not keep up with oponents.

Yes, he will be demoted in some time, but until that happends this will create frustration directed on system and in some cases people stops playing rankeds or even whole game because its too hard and unfair for them. Next thing is, that behaviour generate frustration for his teammates which can result in toxicity towards players who does not belong to their division which is not their fault, not a system fault but smurfers fault. Boosted players drops but another boosted players arrives since a lot of high elo players are smurfing for whatever reasons and cycle continues.

This behaviour should not be tolerated and if Riot wants to create healthy matchmaking, smurfing needs to be punished. There is not a single reason a player should be smurfing except ego boosting or for lolz. Players can try new things in normal games or flex rankeds if you dont want to ruin your solo Q rank. This is big issue and should have no tolerance. PERIOD

What is smurfing though? I played in OCE since season 5, was mid platinum for 4 seasons.

Transfered to EUW, I got my MMR complete reset (elo is server specific), so I had to start Bronze 4 in EUW.

I'm climbing at 60% winrate, I'm gold 3 atm and still climbing fast.

Low elo is a pain to play. Games are not interesting because macro play is realy bad. People throw all the time. More AFK and int. Etc, etc.

I wonder who would voluntarily "smurf", it's really annoying. I can't wait to be back at my MMR, but takes time, it's hard to have very high winrate in low elo. It's more ~60 for a plat player, you have to be consistent, not tilt, and adapt to troll teams. And be patient because it will take about 200 games.

Nothing to change. Its literally the equivalent of beating up a 5 year old and bragging about your fighting skills. Its degenerate behavior, yet its actually promoted by Riot. Theyve been letting streamers smurf forever, and even now give them new accounts to smurf on.

I've discovered the main difference between high and low elo isn't how good you are at playing, it's how good you are at making decisions. Most low elo players lose their own games because they make bad in game choices/assumptions (not your teammates, YOU). It's not even really about how well you know a champion, you can be mediocre on a champ but you if make well informed decisions throughout the game you'll probably do well. When higher elo players end up in lower mmr games, they normally stomp because they make better choices.

smurfs defending their territory quite hard, huh.

There's no third party software involved it's just one player who's better then you beating your ass, is it demoralize yes, is it frustrating, obviously, but seeing as he has 0 unfair advantage he's not cheating. He's simply just better at the game.

Dont forget boosting your team mates and then throwing games to stay in a lower Rank.

In every since of the word its cheating.

I guess it would be cheating if the smurf accounts added to the main account's LP, but they don't.

Smurfing puts the enemy team at a disadvantage and skews the actual ranks of players in ranked. It doesn't matter if your "learning" or doing something different that you don't normally do. Your knowledge of the game exceeds the people that your playing against and puts you at a much higher chance of winning even if you're "handicapping yourself".

Also doing it because "I want to play with my low ranked friends" is not an excuse.

Looks like you pick random champs each game your worse then smurfs you either screw your team by picking something you suck at or carry on something your better then what your elo says cause your winrate is all messed up cause you play random shit .You really are the worst thing to deal with in ranked when I play in around silver-gold 90% of the games you can tell who wins by checking mastery points during the loading screen and then you see people like you who are rly good on a few champs but decide to screw your team by first timing stuff in ranked .

Moonscourge2/26/2019, 4:41:30 PM2 votes

It's not cheating lol It's just how the system works?

It's ranking another account. That is perfectly fine and the time spent in elos that are not in their MMR is so little that it might as well doesn't matter. If they intentionally lose games to get ranked lower, or throw them later on to stay there then that is punishable. The act of playing on another of your accounts is not and you need to stop making excuses as to why you're bad at the game and losing.
