Bronzy question, but

How are you NOT supposed to position next to your minion waves vs. Yasuo.

I commonly hear not positioning next to your minion waves as a way to counter yasuo, but i'm not really sure where to go then, in his minion wave? That's a very suboptimal position as he gets his minions to help him in his already very potent trades and it makes you overextend oftentimes. Beyond that the only position i can think of is in the lane brushes, in which he can just walk to you and usually outtrade you, and if you have to flee he has access to your minion wave much of the time for more dashes, it just seems like there is no way to NOT be in your own minion waves vs. someone with such potent trades and large autoattack range.

I don't even struggle much with yasuo as is, I'm just curious how to utilize this partiular tip, maybe i'm just an idiot, but i really don't know.

Poking Yasuo with an ability or autoattack before trading will take away his passive shield and greatly benefit you in the trade, as far as laning against him, Yasuo is a very oppressive laner, and in some cases it's your best bet to NOT trade with him. Champions have bad matchups and they just need to play safe every once in a while.

Starting more defensive items such as item 1029 or item 1054 can help you sustain the lane, and not have to be as worried about bad trades, If you're a midlaner, try taking summoner 3 or summoner 21 or sometimes summoner 6 to help keep you out of trouble and alive as much as possible.

In these cases where Yasuo isn't a very favourable matchup, try your best to let him shove and most Yasuos do and just freeze outside of your tower range, this mostly prevents him from excessive trading and fighting, while still allowing you to farm.

Hope this helps lad, good luck on the rift! [slayer-jinx-catface]

It's less about trying to figure out general rules to beat Yasuo and more trying to figure out what your champion can do to beat Yasuo.

In terms of positioning you should be able to move away when you see him starting to dash through your minion wave, leaving him stranded and open for your harass.

If you face him top, any tanky toplaner will wreck him as soon as you complete Randuin's. Before that, it's a skill matchup (or even a good matchup for Yasuo if you don't have any base damage).

For ranged: stand to the side of the minion wave or behind it. Poke him, and keep backing off diagonally towards your tower, but away from the minions.

For melee: sit in your minions. Force him to take aggro, and just stat check him
