Defending the jungle

Lately (actually almost my entire time playing), I've noticed people especially at top and mid tend to hug their tower. Whenever I jungle, I politely ask the top laner to ward the appropriate buff at a certain time if there's a risk of invasion, and it's usually enough that his/her trinket will recharge before they are at risk of a gank. Sometimes I have to ask mid to help out as well, because I honestly don't know what staying at their tower does.

What do you think? Is it worth defending the jungle before minions spawn, or should top and mid just stay at tower? I can see valid points on either sides, but I'm looking for others' opinions.

it's not worth it unless you got some ability at lvl1 that can secure kills I would just stroll into there jungle than fight for mine

Well, I should have been more clear I suppose... the least it does is give vision if the enemy is considering invasion, so people can either invade, defend, and position as they please.

If they ward the entrance of your jungle, it might mean something, but you won't notice at your tower.

But fair point, I suppose. Invading their jungle would be more productive than starting a fight.
