Viable Supports

I play a lot of support, but my choice champs tend to be on the mage side: Karma, Sona, Lux. I also started using Kayle a fair bit to add some variety and have had some pretty good success with her at certain points. However, i'm beginning to wonder how viable non-tank supports are with the meta as it stands.

Things work ok provided one of the other lanes is going tank/off-tank (often the jungler, though a Cho or Zed mid has worked out too). Add a tanky top-laner and the team tends to run fine. I've also noticed that in so many of the pro games, tank support is the go to choice. I wen through all the current games in the finals and the only exception I found was a couple of Morgana supports. Tahm and Alistar were the most popular picks.

So are non-tank supports still viable? Thoughts?

Soraka and Janna are both incredibly strong

Talisman, Zekes, and Ardent are 3 great items on them

Nami is best support. You don't need anything else.

If by tank support you mean Tahm, Braum, Leona, Alistar, Thresh, Nautilus, and Blitzcrank, then all are perfectly viable in this meta, but Thresh, Tahm, and Braum are probably the top 3.

I've played and seen a lot of Sion support, which is a fun kill lane. He has a lot of CC to protect from ganks and tower dives well. Other high-CC tanks like Malphite and Shen are pretty good as well.
