Zz'rot scales with health OR mana

I've been wondering about a small change to Zz'rot that would make it a good pick for the squishy supports. I play lots of support and love picking up items that really feel like they have an impact outside of fighting. Zz'rot is a great support item, but because of the way the empowered voidspawn scale, it doesn't have quite the same impact for the squishy supports. True, the resistances and movement speed are still of benefit, but the lane pushing power isn't as strong.

In the interest of increasing the pick diversity for this item, my suggestion is to change the item so it scales with a percentage of health or mana, whichever is higher. This percentage doesn't need to be same amount, but the system calculates and gives the voidspawn the better value.

You could argue that this is the point of Banner of Command, but I think Banner is a little different. An advantage of Zz'rot is that it forces the enemy to deal with this new objective (destroy the gate) or else lose a turret. While one enemy is off doing this, the team that placed the portal has a good opportunity to pick a fight in their advantage. Banner doesn't really have this presence as you don't really know there is an empowered minion coming down the lane and once it's dead, you are fine.

In short, Zz'rot is a great support item, that could be utilised by a greater number of supports.

I don't think its bad on supports, but i don't think it needs to be anymore sparkly for them. The item basically split pushes for you without having to commit a player to a lane. Which also adds up gold to who ever's voidling it is... Ultimately taking a lot of farm away from the carries on your team.

Most support items grant MP5 and not mana anyways, unless you couple it with a Frozen Heart, but tanky build with no HP doesn't sound too good.

Any further thoughts on this? I'm really interested in the development of the support role, particularly in adding diversity so that tanks are the go to pick. I think adding some more utility to support items is a great way to explore this.

I dont see thjs being taken over AP items in mid.

In ow elo u need raw dmg. So if it scales with mana i think it would be good-ish for mage-ish supp. In high elo, they could find a comp to build it on some mid laners i think (the more utility kind).

If ur a Karma, Lux, Brand, Annie i still see going more AP.

While Roka, Nami, Morg, Lulu, seem to benefit from what u suggested.

But we will need to test values, to find that sweet spot as to not OP it on Mage-ish supp.

Zz'rot doesn't need a buff. Nor does it need to be available for all classes and roles.

Furthermore, this change is nonsense even within the context of getting the item to be built by supports. No class in the game seeks out mana more than any other class and, with the exception of a rare few champions who are truly restricted by their mana pool, the stat is generally ignored and a mana item's value is considered without thinking about the mana total.

Zz'rot would still be an item chock full of tanky resist stats that don't make a lot of sense until you build some HP first, supports still wouldn't really have powerful voidlings compared to if a tank built the item, all you'd probably accomplish is create a bizarre abuse case of late game Ryzes having insanely powerful voidlings.
