We're about to enter the most diverse meta we've ever had

Since Season 1, ADCs have always been mandatory. And for the most part, we've all been fine with it. It was hard to see them as op, because in the lower elos(where most of us are), they spent a whole lot of time dead. Then we convinced Riot that they were too easy to kill. Now they're not kill-able. And we are insanely vicious about it. My point? When we don't like something, Riot nerfs it, even if it takes a while. Sooner or later, Riot's gonna gut their whole class.

And, all of a sudden, we don't need them. ADCs will be situational. That's huge. Our ENTIRE GAME is shape around ADCs:

  • Supports protect ADCs
  • Midlaners kill ADCs
  • Toplaners stop Midlaners from killing ADCs
  • Junglers, depending on the champion, can do all three ######Please understand that these are very loose definitions and are based on my understandings alone. pls dont hate me.

So who knows what happens after that. We choose our own damage carry? Towers are scary again?

Or maybe I'm wrong and Riot'll just nerf item 3504 and call it a day.

Riot will just nerf item 3504 and call it a day.

Maybe a few enchanters too.

A meta that doesn't demand ranged ADCs is a nice thought though.

Here is what actually happens: ADCs do massive bps to everyone. Supports protect ADC so hard and make them do more bps. Junglers build item 3109 item 3190 to make ADCs even more unkillable. Top laners have had enough of being kited and shredded by ADCs that they decide to build item 3109 item 3190. Mid laaners are fed up with trying to burst unkillable ADCs that they just play utility mids and rush item 3504.

I dunno. If you ask me, the whole concept of the meta is off. What happened to allowing each individual player to bring their own unique approach to the game? When Riot started calling League a sport, they hard-coded their entire game around the way the pros were playing, and now it's mandatory. (And now, as you say, they've broken it.)

When I go to Tekken tournaments, I'm not locked into a play style. Each character plays differently. Within most characters there's a number of different reliable combos you can fall back on as your main strategy. No two Nina players are necessarily identical, and while there are more reliable winners, true champions don't mind picking the character they have a lot of fun playing and winning with them.

When I go into a Houkou to Iou tournament, I'm not thinking about "where SGs are right now" or "what type of ammo is best right now". I'm thinking about what I'm comfortable with, and what my opponents do best. None of it is defined by a meta, it's defined by the players. I'm not going up against an assault-spec lobber, I'm going up against ShujinExt.

Get rid of the meta. It'll make the game fun again. More fun to watch, and certainly more fun to play.
