We can learn from another online game when trying to balance Tristana.

Just look at TF2's Soldier. The same piece of crap as Tristana is right now. He jumps around, does high damage, and seems unkillable at times.

How is Soldier balanced out? His rocket jump self damages him.

I mean it just makes sense right? Shooting yourself in order to jump higher SHOULD damage you, and it balances his power out nicely.

A Soldier has to consider that by taking a rocket jump he is giving himself a health disadvantage, and needs to play around that. A good Soldier that constantly rocket jumps has to find healthpacks and ammopacks around the map to stay sustained.

Now how can this help us with Tristana? I propose that we give Tristana a health cost on her W: Rocket Jump. This means that by going in OR escaping, you are potentially harming yourself considerably if you have poor decision making.

Think about a Tristana confronting a Veigar. Due to the nature of Veigar's R, he will do considerably more damage the lower she gets. Tristana has to choose between staying safe and walking up to Veigar, or jumping in and possibly being insta-bursted.

I'm really tired of Tristanas just blindly jumping around because they can't get punished for it unless they literally jump straight into the entire enemy team. Or Tristanas spamming the reset to get their free penta. The last person to die should have a chance to turn the fight.

I think a health cost scaling with level from 50-140 damage would be fair.

Wait till you face a Tracer in HoTS......you'd be glad to play against a Tristana. Playing HoTS for a month made me appreciate balance decisions and champion design in League.

Disregarding the fact TF2 and LoL are incredibly different balance-wise..

It could definitely use a tweak, though. Maybe reducing the reset effectiveness.

You know, I don't hate it.

I don't love it, either, because I think this would be a pretty huge handicap to her. Especially using it as a last-ditch escape would be much more difficult if you're already low. But I like the thinking behind it; it's clever.

Though most Soldiers get Gunboats as secondary which vastly reduces the damage from rocket jumping; sure they lose a secondary weapon but it's not like Soldier uses it much in the first place. But yeh, with this you still take some damage when you rocket jump, which I do feel it's a good balance point if they want to keep Trist's rocket jump so spammable; or else just don't, don't make it THAT spammable and be done with it.

Let's just hope Riot doesn't look too hard into TF2 and try to ""compensate"" this by adding Blackbox + Concheror combo into Trist as well. But I guess it's technically already there in the itemisation and support position anyway. Sigh.

looking to rocket jumping in TF2 for balance is pretty hilarious (it makes soldier unquestionably the best class), but point taken; not a bad idea for Trist

they already have nerfs line up for her, also making that the only ability in the game to hurt the user is a road i don't think league should go down
