Patch 7.22 Ruined League of Legends, Patch 8.16 Wont Change Anything

People are thinking this is it, the patch is finally coming where we wont have to worry about every lane getting stomped/dominating their laner. Thinking the clown fiesta of 3 abilities level 3 killing people will be over. For some assassins, sure it will be a little harder for them, but overall, most champions will still deal insane damage.

Look at people who run Precision still and yet can one shot people. Look at people who take even Grasp killing people in under 3 seconds. None of this is going to change. The season is still going to remain the same, Dominate or be Dominated.

The reason damage is so high this season compared to last season is because new runes dont give any type of defense options.

In Patch 7.22, Riot buffed all the champions stats to replace the old mastery/rune system. Let's compare this to the Champion I know the most, which is Jayce.

https://imgur.com/5a5h4SC

Armor increased by 5. My starting armor now is 27 Lvl 1 with no items 21% damage blocked. While my runes would give me 9 armor (9 seal runes), which would give me 31 armor about 25% damage blocked. My Magic Resist went up 0, so instead of 12 Bonus MR from runes I get 30 mr, 23% ap blocked. When before I was getting 42 mr, which is about 29-30ish% ap blocked. And nothing in Resolve can do much to give protection until after 10 minutes when you dont even need it.

Season 8 Armor/Mr: 27 Armor 21% dmg blocked, MR 30 23% AP blocked. Season 7 Armor/MR: 31 Armor 25% Dmg Blocked, MR 42 29.5% AP Blocked.

Old masteries you could get 5% bonus mr/armor, 8 armor/mr near allied tower, 50 bonus health, gain 10% +1.5 per level armor and magic resist when damaged by enemy champion for 2 seconds all from one tree while you could max out fervor or thunderlords but still had protection.

Season 8 Armor/MR: 27 Armor, 30 MR. Season 7 Armor/MR: 31 + 5% + 8 + 10% = 44.6 Armor, 42 + 5% + 8 + 10% = 57.3 MR.

Now damage. My base AD went up about 8, and they buffed my abilities. And for new runes I can get +12 starting AD lvl 1. Lets not count the abilities damage, so I get about 20 more damage level 1 Season 8. While Season 7 old runes would give me +12 starting AD if I chose to take all AD runes, which I usually didnt but we're comparing.

New Runes: 8 + 12 = 20 Starting Ad Old Runes: 12 = 12 Starting Ad

So now comparing Runes, Scorch gives 20 damage lvl 1, aery 15, Absolute Focus +3 AD, Cheap Shot 15 true dmg, Ghost Poro in enemy jungle +5 AD. Old Masteries gave +4% attack speed, Fresh Blood +10 damage first auto to enemy champ 6s/cd, DES deal 3% more damage take 1.5% more damage Jayces starting AD was 50.78 so itd be 1.5 AD, 7% armor pen, 1+ ad per auto on enemy champ stacks to 8 Fervor, +5 damage to minions, +2% damage when no allied champs near which would be about 1 AD, 3% more damage against champs below 40% health so 1.5 AD, kills/assists give 5% of your health/mana.

So comparing the two, with all the combos and what not lets do the math.

New Runes: Scorch 20 + Aery 15 + AF 3 + Cheap Shot 15 + Ghost Poro 5 = 58 Damage Old Masteries = 10 Fresh Blood + 1.5 Double Edged Sword + 8 Fervor + 1 AD Assassin + 1.5 AD Merciless = 22 Damage

Now comparing the new changes to the mix.

Updated New Runes: Scorch 10 + Aery 10 + AF 3 + Cheap Shot 8 + GP 5 = 35 Damage. Quite a bit of a step but also remember that the cooldowns are shorter for Scorch so its still about 45ish. Old Masteries = 22

Notice how much damage has gone up and armor has gone down. If Riot truly wants to fix the damage in the game (doubt it), then they need to add old runes back so we can give ourselves the stats needed to not get one shot, revert the starting damage changes from 7.22, and lower damage overall runes. Not just Sorcery and Domination, all of them. Im playing Jayce with Grasp and can still hurt people with hard. Lower the base stats of runes, no reason to have 12+ ad when everyone got a buff patch 7.22 for their starting AD.

riot wants SR games to end in 20 min . refuses to reduces dmg , refuses to buff turret , refuses to nerf god tier and buff trash tier , balance favoritism etc ...

TL; DR:

Rune Reforged destroyed any semblance of balance in this game.

Don't bother reading the stats. The damage creep says it all.

Meep Man8/13/2018, 7:26:26 PM7 votes

Apparently in the next season they are separating stats from rune paths, so maybe armor and magic resist stats return then.

I agree that damage relative to durability has gone too far up, but I think that if we truly want to escape from power creep, we should consider ditching the rune system entirely, instead of reverting to an older version. Runes Reforged may be a failure, but its predecessors all had significant problems too, with both masteries and runes offering little in the way of real choice, and mainly just adding more power in a manner that wasn't all that distinct from itemization. At their best, these systems did not carry the largest gameplay impact (this is, in fact, what many are asking from the rune system now), and in every iteration added a huge degree of complication to champion balancing and player preparation before match start: even now, players still occasionally take the wrong rune setup and screw themselves over, and overall the rune system clashes with the lobby being a brief period of time for players to strategize (it's also not particularly new player-friendly). As such, I think the better solution may be to cut out Runes Reforged entirely, and look for ways to allow itemization to provide finer stat customization, while also adding to it whichever runes are considered good enough to keep, as new items with their effects as passives.

I just love how the OP posted this to Reddit and instead of it getting meaningful discussion there the comments are plagued by some fucking idiot who provides no discussion and only says "Go back to the NA Boards dweller and keep that pathetic circlejerk there"

Fuck Reddit.

Crying about 27 armor ...

When all Mages have less than 20.

Ezreal has 22.

Vayne has 23.

I am actually dreading next patch because for some reason both of my mains (Nautilus and TahmKench) are randomly getting nerfed even though they have been weak for over a year now.

its better this way the game used to be determined by the bot lane , im sick of losing cuz my bot lane is worse than the enemy now other lane and roles hav better chance to carry

Buff Base HP and/or armor across the board for all champs.

I don't know why so many people want the old runes back. They were just as bad as the new ones. If riot brings back the old runes next season, everyone will just spend all of season 9 asking for the new runes back and we would be back to square one. Instead, just lower base ad, increase base armor/mr and balance the game around the new runes. Game will be so much better that way.

Plus in the old runes you could actually run stats that were hard to come by in items or you just wanted a custom build. want more gold/10? you can have that. how about a full page of magic pen? sure. scaling health/mana regen? np man.

it allowed for fun builds which current rune stats dont allow.

pathc 5.24 ruined league

Blåbæret8/13/2018, 11:33:09 PM1 votes

The balance team is just incompetent. You can't just remove stats from the game and it call it a day as if it was nothing. This game needs customizable runes back.

Divewing8/15/2018, 12:49:34 AM1 votes

IMO, 5.22 ruined league.

7.22 came along and desecrated the corpse

Totally agreed, personaly for me as an adc player, this game is a nightmare this season, assassins powerspike so fast so even if i 5/0/5 they still can oneshot me without any problem and ruin my carry completly, also no brain champions like Master Yi can win a game with ease, no skill required.

I'm almost about to quit League of Legends. I've got no any fun anymore like it was back in 2013, current balance team is awfull, i can't play most of my favourite champions cause most of them out of meta and scale not so good or there mechanics are not so good anymore, and those new champs op mechanics completly outplay almost everything was created before, jesus i'm so mad and tilted of that game...

This game is so horrible last 2 years. Rengar or Shaco can build Razor+Dusk and you are dead with 1 autoatack, thats a gameplay, well done Riot.
